Early Access Review
Avoid this asset flip, cash grab, loosely disguised as a game. I got on board early as friends recommended it, and zombie games are my jam Feel free to check my Steam library for just how many I have. I played it a bit and thought, not bad. This game needs much more time before release, but it has a good amount of potential...

Potential that will never be realized. As of today 17.07.2019 they have announced that they are leaving Early Access for Version 1.0. this game is without a doubt still at the alpha stages of development. I'd call it half baked, but it's not even that. It's raw. There's surely worse dumpster fires in the Steam catalogue than this game, however that's not an excuse to add fuel to the fire Snail. You can get a lot more for you gaming funds if you look elsewhere.

Here's a good start https://steamproxy.net/steamstore/app/914620/Mist_Survival/ it's cheaper and better. Even with a lone developer working on it too at that.

Picked this one up on sale for <$20CAD. Easily worth this much for the SP campaign. I do not have any intentions to play the MP so I am reviewing this solely on the basis of the SP campaign as well as taking into considering the cost being quite low (at the time I purchased it).

I initially held off on this game as while I did not hate the Wolfenstein reboot. I was still somewhat underwhelmed by the game play. And Bethesda is really seeming to put in a lot of effort to piss off it's fan base of the last 30 years moving forward. Dooms game play and the fluidity blow any similar fears away with ease (ID as always does very well with the gun play). The upgrade systems are enjoyable, it's gory and violent, and all rolled together extremely satisfying to play.

I saw it described elsewhere in this manner, In Dark Souls you are trapped in a room with demons. In Doom demons are trapped in a room with you. This in a nutshell, describes what to expect. And if you do play this title, DO NOT miss out on the glory kills! Melee is not in anyway lacking compared to the guns for this title.

This game is literal trash. You likely know this... as well, it is far from new (Oct 2012). However they just used the Steam store page for this trash, to advertise an Epic Exclusive sequel. So even if it was a gem, it's not something any sane PC gamer should support in any way. Especially financially!

Do yourself a favour and play MORDHAU, support an inde dev, get a better game, and loose no sleep over supporting anti-consumer exclusionary practices.

Torn Banner you disgust me *spits*

Early Access Review
This is one of the best Early Access rides you can get a ticket for. If you don't know what Early Access is, then it's too soon to be reading reviews. Go brush up on what to expect in that regard first. These devs are great, and the amount of communication on just Steam alone is outstanding! They even put out a comic with the update news if you like that kind of thing. And it's refreshing to hear from people working on the game, that behave like people and not some corporate robots.

Now if a game about prisoners running amok, third legs blowing in the wind, while being well.. criminals. And also killing a lot of less fortunate now zombified folks that came before them. I implore you don't get this game. If you can repress the initial giggles and get over a few uncut "jokes" though. This is a very well done game that's got good bones, and is incredibly complex with considerable depth in it's mechanics. Some of which it being EA are still being fleshed out. Visually it's gorgeous. I've not had any server related troubles myself. And there is a SP mode too if PvP isn't for you.

That said it would be very nice if there was a PVE mode that focused more on survival against the zombies. I'm not complaining though, for the price of this game you get far more than you should expect. And they're only making it better.

*If you found any of the humour in this review offensive, you will hate this game. If you think pooping an item out of your "prison pocket" on your first chance to defecate is too much... don't get a supporter pack either. If as I did you laugh jovially when that item is a useless purple dildo, that you can only slap a person in the face with. Then I'll see you in game! :)

I am leaving this reviews content as is and changing this to a thumbs down, for why read beyond the original

Original:
This game's great, the devs care and have really been working hard on it. Unfortunately there's far too many muppets that have no clue about game development. To summarize it have left poor reviews, because they were too stupid to know better, and penned opinions in the form of reviews fraught with ignorance.

If you like Diablo, then this is the Diablo 3 you were expecting (not the shovelware Blizzard put out), if you like Grim Dawn solid chance you will like Wolcen too. If you have played none of those, try PoE 1st (it's F2P), and if you like that style of gameplay chances are you will like Wolcen.

TL;DR
Like any game in EA, there's a lot of mouth pieces that we would all be more intelligent for not having ever heard. Solid game, graphical beauty (It is on CryEngine after all), that is a great addition to the genre, with it's own set of personalized tweaks to make it it's own.

New as of 2020/02/26:
This game got it's 1.0 release. And it's been made VERY clear that despite the lengthy beta period, it was far too soon for 1.0 Today saw a patch that robbed myself and all of my friends of their gold and primordial affinity. However they did not exploit any dupe bugs that were the reasons for this. You could stack some things and sell them and this duped gold so many did this unknowingly. I am sure I flipped a couple of trash low tier gems stacked to 2 or maybe 3? So if that duped golf then I had a very small amount of duped gold. This was removed along with millions that was earned by good old fashioned grinding. The fix was more detrimental then the bug itself for me and all I know that play it. They also nerfed and changed several skills for players post 1.0 release. Sorry devs but this is what EA is for and more over what the beta period is for in a nutshell. I cannot in good conscience at this time recommend this game as for all your time and effort invested it may be negated by a patch. I don't know about you who is reading this, but IMO life is short even if you live to be 100. So I do not have time to burn on a game that will rob us of our efforts due to mistakes made by others. As much as I love the look of this game and how it plays, at this time I advise you all to avoid this title for now and at the very least the near future. If this game was still in EA I would still be recommending it, It's not though and you deserve more for your money and time invested than what you will get for this title.

There's lots of good to say about this game. And I am sure there's lots of reviews that cover most of that. So I am going to gloss over that and say that while I would recommend this game, I would do so with caution.

The world consists of a main town area with your player home shops and so forth. From there there is but a handful of areas that you will visit for various reasons repeatedly. This game wants to be open world really badly, but it's really not. You can go off on an adventure and do as you please within these areas or stages if you prefer. However it is withing the limits of the predetermined map that while great looking ultimately isn't very big.

The other stand out issue is also having to do with repetitiveness. Specifically the game play, which pretty much does not vary more than subtlety from your very first hunt. The only real differences being tactics based on your preys weaknesses and strengths. The deeper you go into the game the more real the grind gets. Which will add yet another problem, having to face "ancient dragons" (sounds cool, but it's just another monster that is harder than average and requires a team of hunters to take down). Adding the frustration that is PUG's. Since you are pretty screwed, while having wasted your time (attempting) to grind these dragons, if your team has one of more lemons participating.

TL;DR
I can say lots of good things about this game that ultimately overshadow the bad. However it's also very repetitive and grindy in bad ways, so ultimately I cannot recommenced this game at full price. As I write this it's on sale for 34% off. Still too high for the lack of content offered (The dlc is all 100% garbage not worth looking at that adds no game play value what so ever). As well as PC gamers being treated as second rate, as any and all updates are out much sooner on other platforms. Good game, not great buyer beware.

Early Access Review
I see quite a bit of just incorrect (the polite word for "wrong") information in the reviews for this game. So I decided to write one since those lovely reviewers don't allow comments so I was not able to convey to them as much. Thus they will be unlikely to correct them ever.

Q: Is the game or development dead?

A:So before I ever played this game (or heard of it for that matter) I understand it was not coming along well and by and large was basically abandoned. Then along came Snail games USA who purchased the IP for this game along with Studio Wildcard and the ARK IP. This game since that point is not dead. Also post Snail taking over is when I there my hat in the ring for this EA project. To be clear if Studio Wildcard had taken over I would NOT have done so. (Short answer: No)

Q: Does this game have DLC (while it is in EA)?

A: Yes and no. The overhaul done when Snail took over change the game a great deal. They released this update as "DLC" for free to those that have the game, and that is what you get if you purchase it today too. They called it "Shard of Light", and it basically marks the ARK"esk" overhaul done after the Snail takeover. So really there is no shady DLC scammery going on here. It's not ARK/Studio WIldcard selling DLC for $20 for an unfinished game.

Q: Would I recommend this game?

A: Sure I would, it's like a more polished ARK with incredibly detailed and interesting monsters of sorts instead of dinos. The crafting is very different but the building is more or less the same as ARK. You will also see similar radial menus and other details that if you were not already aware would lead you to believe a lawsuit could be a thing. Of course it won't as the ARK IP is owned by Snail. The only issue I have is that I cannot host a game, so I am relegated to playing SP, or I have to be subjected to public servers otherwise. Something I am not keen on to say the least. I truly hope they implement this in the same way it worked for ARK. That is why until this point I have not written a review. I was waiting to tell all my friends to get a copy until such a time as this was available. Presently (21/02/2019) it is not. However the price was reduced today. It's not on sale, just reduced.

Now if you have issues with bugs, or anything else that is part and parcel with a game being developed. Wait to play this if not buy it. It's not completed yet and thus flaws remain. However if you take issues with DLC for an EA game or are concerned about the game being abandoned. Then really nothing should be stopping you as that is out of date or just wrong information. Nothing to worry about on those fronts, unless your tinfoil hats on so tight bloods not making it to your brain ;)

So just to be upfront. All my game play has been done using an X-Box One Game pad (it's just plug and play no set up required)

With that out of the way, I will have to recommend this game. Is it the best golf game I ever played? Nope. But it's by far the best modern age golf game for PC. The swing mechanics leave much to be desired for me. Particularly in the short game. The more I play the more I have adjusted to it, but at times I am left scratching my head. Wondering what the hell just happened, after a ball goes in some seemingly random direction, or just is super inconsistent with distance vs how hard you swing. So no it's not perfect.

However it's still a solid enough golf game I find myself looking at the clock while playing wondering, where that last 3hrs just went!? It's sucking me in and making time fly by. There's really not much PGA related stuff in the game, just a tour mode I have yet to try myself. You make your own golfer and as you gain XP and cash, you unlock items in the pro shop to use (it's not micro transaction based!). There is a course designer too, and when you are happy with how your course is you can publish it so other golfers can play them. I've played some fantastic player made courses so far, and some that a troll must have made in an attempt to make one rage quit. And everything in between. Giving a full range of courses from simple to rage inducingly difficult.

TL;DR
You are going to want a game pad for this game (as most reviews will tell you) Then you are going to have to "git gud" (read as practice) until you get over the learning curve and can start enjoying games with scores at or below par. If you hang in there IMO it's worth it and there's a lot of fun to be had.

Edit: Personally I would wait for a sale, I did. Glad that I did too at that ;)

This game is a standalone example of "How NOT to do Steam EA". Steam/Valve can use it as part of a case study on how to refine the current system. So that dumpster fires like DayZ don't bilk you out of your gaming dollars, by selling you empty promises, apologies, and excuses.

Do yourself a favour and and pick up a Copy of SCUM instead. From go, it was already a better game than this sad excuse for one. And the devs can call themselves devs on that project, while not losing any sleep over it.

I got this on sale with the DLC for $13(CAD) and change. WELL, WELL, worth the price of admission there! DLC is not needed however as it is just outfits for the characters (visual skins only). So your choice there.

It's similar game play to L4D. Great co-op fun with friends, though NPC AI can be a little less than intelligent (such as standing still in toxic gas and dying, instead of taking 4 steps in any direction....). So it's best played with friends.

100% would recommend this on sale, though you may find the asking price without discount a touch steep. Has a campaign mode and a survive the waves tower defence style mode as well.
