I love rotating my crops in real time!

I have watched my brother play Half Life 1 in 1999 and I have played it multiple times over the years.

The main questions you may have are the following:

1) Is this game a good 'modernisation' of Half Life 1?
A: Yes, it is a good modernisation and some things are explained in a broader sense than the original.

2)Is the game a proper 'spiritual successor' to HL1?
A: No, it sadly isn't. The game just didn't feel as good as HL1 for some reason.

To elaborate on some things:

The shadows and lighting are a huge pain in the ass and it took me multiple console fixes to make it playable yet still very annoying.

The Xen section overstayed it's welcome. I was dying to be over it because it stretched so much and was more an annoyance than enjoyment. Some sections are nice such as the Vortigaunt village and fact they are not hostile against you as they are slaves.

The blast pit section in the original game has more 'OOMPF' than in this modernisation. I don't know why but the miniboss didn't feel as threatening as the original.

Lastly the weapons didn't feel as impactful as the original.


The only big plus I give to the game is the fact in Xen you can find scientist outposts which is staying true to the story that they have ventured to the border world and collected crystal samples.

You get space trucking simulator


The space is the limit

Game used to be broken. It's fine now. Still buggy but good to play and explore a Fallout world.

Compared to Doom 2016, Eternal offers a lot more when it comes to gimmicks and mechanics as well as 'customizations' HOWEVER when comparing pure gameplay I find 2016 to be better than Eternal. Doom 2016 glued me to my chair and I played it 5 days from morning till late hours on highest difficulty and felt satisfied when I finished it. Eternal on the other hand I still haven't finished it a year after purchase, it just hasn't hooked me up right like 2016 did. While some people love platforming I find it tedious (not difficult but annoying and a bit out of place). I think platforming should have been reserved for finding secrets and not being the main path to progress the levels.

This game was surprisingly fun to play and I had no idea about W 40K franchise. For a 2011 release this is a great game thou I did hope for more unique game mechanics after a while because combat became repetitive. Otherwise a fun game to sink a decent amount of time into.

At first I thought this was going to be an annoying puzzle game but it ended being a decently lenghty enjoyable puzzle game with a plot twist I did not see coming. I have to say I was very surprised with the ending, it was quite touching.


IMO a game worth playing when all you want to do is relax, take it slow but keep your brain jogging.

Game is 7 years old? Really? Does not feel like it at all and I have already sunk 150 hours into this game without reaching a high level, 100 skill stat or explored much of the map.



Where has my time gone?

Horrible car handling made me quit this game as trying to hit opponents was a nightmare.

Reccomend only if it's sold very cheap.

Downloaded this for 1h 30 minutes. Played it for 19 minutes to confirm it's crap.
