I am not one usually to leave a review as I find other people have already spoken my opinions but I have been infuriated by the amount of crap I went through to try and play this game. Initial set up was easy - bought through steam, get game code. FFXIV makes you set up an account with Square Enix which is fairly normal for an online game. It takes the usual information like email address, screen name then your name and birthdate. Then your address, and a personal security question. Captcha's on every screen by the way, hard ones too. I do my usual thing of putting in crap because you don't need my damn address or birthdate. Then after that I log in, filling another captcha in as I go.This was around 2 years ago, I play the game and use up the free month before moving on and not playing again. However, recently I decided to start playing again as my friends have picked it up. Forgotten password, so go through that system of password recovery but it doesn't work. I recieve no email with reset details. So I try again, figuring I spelled something wrong. Nope, nothing. More captcha's each time too. Now, they do say it can take some time for the email to come through, and after "considerable" time waiting, to try again. 4 days later the email comes through but has an expiry time on it. If you don't click on the contained link within an hour of recieving it, it no longer works and you have to try again. And so I try again, this time it comes through 6 hours later when I am at work, I was lucky enough to be on a break and click the link. But it won't just reset my password, oh no. It wants my bloody birthdate, security answer and address. Ridiculous hard captchas on EVERY DAMN PAGE. Failing to crack my own answers I make a new account, a new email address to send information to and write everything down this time. Before stopping, putting my pen down and setting fire to the paper. The damn game has a registration key that links with the damn account. So I need to buy the game again. No thank you, enjoy your day.

I have never written a review on Steam before but I feel compelled to now. Bought this, installed and try to fire it up - gotta install uplay. Bloody hell, really? Fine. Go through all the ballache of creating a new account because I cant remember anything about the one I set up yonks back but get it installed and try again. Black screen then crash, joy. Google around for like an hour trying to find a solution, then give up. Maybe I will try again some other time. Specs for those who wonder - i5 3.4ghz intel processor, gtx 770, 8gb ram.
