The "mixed" reaction in the reviews for this game make perfect sense, as I can hardly think of a more "mixed" game. There are some really nice things, some not so nice things, and a lot of in between, making "Unity" a decent enough entry in the Assassin's Creed series, but far from a must play for any particular gamer.
I feel like every review I read here is either tepidly positive or tepidly negative, which makes sense. I trend more toward the positive side, as the game runs fine for me, I love the setting and scenery (the one area where Ubisoft never goes wrong) and the story is basically fine.
Is it worth AAA prices? Probably not, no. Is it even worth the reduced price it sits at now at several years past its debut? Probably not, again. But if you've a hankering and see it on sale, give it a shot; you might find yourself feeling more positive than negative about it, too.

Early Access Review
I've never spent so much time picking up feces in my life.

10/10 recommended.

I feel like there should be some sort of system in place for games that are abandoned by their developers like this. I get that it's a "buyer beware" kind of situation, but I also feel like when buying a game in early access, the customer should have some sort of assurance that the game will eventually be finished, unlike the incomplete state this was left in.

You know, I really liked "Safecracker."

If you're looking for ultra high production values and the like, you might be a little dissapointed. The graphics are ok but nothing to write home about - especially for a static, hidden object type game - the little voice acting there is isn't the best, and the plot, while interesting enough, is certainly a little sparse. But none of those things are really the point, are they?

You don't play a game subtitled "The Ultimate Puzzle Adventure" unless you like puzzles, right? And while the title's grasp rather exceeds the game's reach, it's a very good puzzle adventure no matter what way you cut it. There are wide variety of safes to crack and puzzles to solve, some of which are rather straightfoward, some of which are a bit more obscure, and some of which you can't solve without other information from elsewhere in the game. There was only one puzzle I legitmately couldn't have deciphered without outside help; the rest may prove tough, but on the whole aren't frustrating or unfair. And despite miminal atmosphere, I somehow found myself sucked in to the interior world of two characters who get lost in safes and puzzle solving. Time spent wondering about each puzzle's solution became time in which I came to appreciate the skill and cleverness involved with not only solving such riddles, but making them as well.

All told, there's a lot less "Adventure" than "puzzle" in this game, but it's a puzzle worth having a go at, for sure.

The brief, sometimes beautiful life of a fly. It's easy to forget the vastness of space and our irrelevance in it until you experience life this way.

I honestly think Real Boxing is a pretty good game. The controls (I use an x box controller for it) are quite good, pretty sharp and intuitive, the graphics are decent and I didn't experience any of the stuttering or sluggishness some others reported. The important thing is to not expect the detail and depth of a AAA sports title like Madden or the Show. Boxer customization is perfunctory at best and everyone ends up looking pretty much identical no matter what you do. Game play is a little light, as career mode and random fights (which don't count toward your career) are really all there is to do. Training minigames are nice enough but shallow. If they had managed to make a deep, customizable experience this would be a legitmately excellent game, but as it is it's a nice bit of boxing for pretty cheap. And hey, maybe supporting something like this will create interest in a full fledged boxing game. We can hope, right?

I don't know if I could recommend "Waking Mars" more highly. It's a thoughtful sci-fi game, sincere but not overly serious or melodramatic, a story about scientists on Mars studying recently discovered flora deep underground. And by "scientists" I mean actual scientists - intelligent characters who don't do or say stupid things for the sake of the plot or seek out danger just for the sake of action. In fact, there isn't really much in the way of action in the game at all. There are hazards, but no enemies; challanges, but no crises. Just fully-realized people seeking knowledge and exploration.

Pros: Well acted
Nicely animated, fully realized world
Scientifically plausible
Evocative, but never intrusive, soundtrack
Thoughtful story grounded in reality
Spirit of discovery and exploration

Cons: Not a 4A game, so no big cut scenes or dramatic action

Pro/Con: Serious, intelligent game not for the thrill-seekers among us.
