It's fun unlocking new cowboy guns for a while, and getting fancy skins for your cowboy guns, and killing people with your cowboy guns, and upgrading your hunters to be more proficient with their cowboy guns. Then a bunch of matches, a few updates, a few prestiges in, the game boils down to it's final form:

Unlock the complete upgrade tree for the few weapons you actually like during each prestige.
Go broke and play the game on Not An Enjoyable Experience difficulty for a while.
Run around bored in a swamp for 20 minutes before being shot in the head.
Run into 75 prestige John Wick, who is probably getting 1 or 2 serotonins out of killing your team.
Play the game for 2 hours, for a couple minutes of fun.
Play the game to finish the battlepass and then immediately stop playing.

"Long-walk-to-battle royale" is a term I've seen before. You'll probably have more fun wandering around a real swamp, with reduced risk of being shot in the face before anything interesting happens.
