Counter any dragon spell with: lightning incants, most bullet spells, any heavy attack from a curved greatsword or greatswordgreatsword, any attack from a collosal sword greatspear or colossal spear, running charge attack from spears short swords and curved swords, or just dodge with bloodhounds.

Dragon spells are high risk high reward, the risk being the wind up and your decent but not good enough poise, and the reward is big damage.

dragon spells are fun. I also don't use the breath often at all. mostly to finish off slippery opponents.

If your opponent ever manages to successfully cast a dragon breath, that is the "you are too far away/too passive" wakeup call. They have like a full second or two of windup; you should be able to interrupt them with a jumping attack on reaction.

yes, getting bled in 2 spear hits by an overleveled phantom that also lags is definitely a skill issue. not to mention how little damage I dealt to him compared to how much he dealt to me.

btw level up vigor first of all. "attack stats" don't make a big difference until you have, like, at least 35-40 points in them, anyway. elemental infusions are best for a large part of the game.

who were you? I have no endgame stuff except for loretta's mastery for the kewl trick shots. and I have only 828HP because of how many points I have to put into INT to use it.
in fact, I also limit myself by not using talismans that boost sorcery damage nor the radagon icon, and I don't use the meteorite staff unless, like, I meet a way overleveled phantom.
