6/10 - TL;DR - Buy if you're a fan and have played before. Wait for a sale.

Pros:
- Looks better than GBA with default filtering (barely)
- Solid line-up of an overlooked part of the Mega Man franchise
- Large amount of potential playtime

Cons:
- Less bang for your buck than ANY Mega Man collection thus far
- NO extra mode like every single other collections has had
- Battle chip challenge is suspiciously absent. That's right, a Mega Man Battle Network game for the GBA, with all the characters and chips from the series, is not anywhere in either collection
- Not enough content despite playtime to constitute making two collections out of this. Capcom seemed to understand that with the Zero/ZX collection. Dropped the ball here. You get to pick it up - with your wallet
- 2nd collection is bloated with copies of the same game ala Pokemon, leaving the first collection feeling extra empty

Mid:
- .EXE himself in 3D on the home screen between games talking to me. It's... cute, I guess? Little much. Certainly would have rather an actually complete collection with Battle Chip Challenge, or even better, the DS Battle Network variants I never got to play. I assume those will be their own collection now anyway.

I'll keep playing it, but that's because I'm a Dissidia sadist.

Pros:
- The characters look AMAZING
- The basic combat functionality is pretty solid (though not as solid as the originals)
- 3v3 is a fun added gimmick
- Get more story time with Final Fantasy characters interacting and this is doubled by how good they look (see first point)
- So many costumes!

Cons:
- They made an entire game about a gimmick that should have been an addon
- Fighting summons sounds cool until you engage in the tedious chore of cheesing them to death. Don't feel bad; it's all they do too.
- Bizarre F2P business model
- Online is more of a memory than Tidus
- Barebones game modes. There's like two since online doesn't exist - Gauntlet and Story mode
- Story mode has to be unlocked chapter by chapter by endlessly grinding Gauntlet
- You only get Gauntlet and a couple of characters in F2P
- 90% of costumes are locked behind a paywall ala Dead or Alive. Imagine that.
- Fun in short bursts but any serious gameplay session will leave you frustrated

Honestly though, remaster 012 with these graphics and sell me the extra characters as DLC. I'd put over 100 hours into that badboy.

More power-ups, open mic, higher difficulty, daily challenges, tons of ships, more shadow missions, modules for ships, a new boss every time... Just in every single way superior to the original, and the original was great.

If you like twin stick shooters and music, don't even hesitate.

7/10 - Lo Wang and his story are a treat. The gameplay is not.

Great story, good graphics, honestly poor execution.

Settings are overused and, while originally neat to look at, quickly become boring and monotonous.

Fighting is more of a chore than fun. The sword play is fun and refreshing for a FPS. That's about it. The demon powers you receive are gimmicky at best, and odds are the first one you max out/spam at every chance is the healing. The demons themselves are overpowered and overly tough. I get Lo Wang isn't Doom Guy, but when explosions feel almost useless on anything but the weakest of enemies, you've gone too far. Combine that with the overreaching AoEs these guys pump out and even your best dodging skills won't prevent at least some damage. And seriously? A large enemy that only has a weakness on a small spot on its back? Bosses are 100% gimmick fights.

The plot is more unique than most and has some very interesting lore. There are no good guys and bad guys, just infinite shades of grey (sexy!). Lo Wang and Hochi are both fun characters and I find myself looking forward to hearing them speak. That being said, a lot of the humor is dry or hit and miss. The fortune cookie collectibles are the worst offenders here.

Weapons are pretty standard fare, minus the demon heart, demon head, and sword, though other FPS have used similar gimmicks. They all feel pretty weak though, with the flamethrower probably being the most useless. Also, why is a charged up crossbow bolt more powerful than two explosive ones? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Many enemies can survive multiple hits from a rocket launcher but be killed instantly with a charged stab of your sword. The pistol seems to do way more damage in three bullets than an entire clip of the uzi. Shotgun alternate doesn't feel much stronger than primary fire but eats up an entire clip per shot. Shotgun itself is only useful at completely point blank.

All in all, I did enjoy my time spent on the story, but I feel absolutely no desire to play through it again. Tough to recommend, but I don't have the heart not to.

This is one of those "wish there was a middle ground choice" moments. My upfront disclaimer is that I do intend to complete the game and my review is almost strictly opinion-based.

But hear me out here:

This version of Final Fantasy looks like it was completely fan-made and then licensed and/or endorsed by Squenix. If that were the case, I'd happily change my recommendation. However, that's not the case, and this game is, quite simply, unacceptable.

I am almost willing to bet money that it was recreated using RPG Maker MV. The attention to detail is just awful and suffers from some of the worst obvious grid tilesets I have ever been privy to. Don't get me wrong -- The game is all here and it's a very solid recreation, that is, if you can stomach seeing those insufferable squares every inch of every map.

It just seems so very cheaply done. Some of the design choices are confusing. We're going with original illustration portraits but enhanced chibi edits of the original sprites? Stiff sprites, might I add, that look very out of place with their surroundings due to their heavy bright saturation that completely clashes with the otherwise somber environs. They have hardly any motion and it, too, usually conflicts with the background, making them appear overly large. An entire team of Square Enix staff and they couldn't be bothered to detail these characters and give them more animations? The software they're using certainly allows for it.

TL;DR - If you haven't played V yet, buy it on sale. Otherwise, I honestly feel the fanbase could create better in equal or less time in RPG Maker MV

What can I say except this game scratches a deeply rooted itch I never knew I had. It's relaxing and a great time filler or waster if you prefer. It promotes simplicity but demands excellence. So good I just picked it up again on the Switch for portable power.

I was a little put off by the size of the map at first (it's very small), but found a surprisingly deep and addictive game underneath. The different powers and personalities are fun. Honestly worth full price but you'll feel better about yourself if you wait for a sale. Hoping there's actually a sequel and that they expand upon the game world to be every bit as expansive and vibrant as any Saints Row game.

BUY IT DURING SOME SORT OF SUPER SALE. DO NOT PAY MORE THAN $5. DO NOT BUY DLC.

Multiplayer is dead. My total play time is how long it took me to complete the campaign with a lot of deaths.

Accuracy is just about nonexistent. Watch in wonder as your bullets fly THROUGH the target! You never run out of ammo drops from enemies despite the fact they're using a wide assortment of weapons. You only ever run out of special weapon (LMGs, Rocket Launchers, Snipers) ammo and even then rarely.

The groundwork for the story is a great premise with a lot of realism and thought put into it. But when you actually start playing, the story becomes extremely flat. Cliches abound, subpar voice acting (I'M YELLING SO I MUST BE A GOOD FPS ACTOR!), and very little advancement. The ending is the worse cliffhanger trying to make you feel something for a guy that alternates between Brother Buddy and Johnny Jerko. It's not even a consistent character. Anything you see within the story that sparks your interest is guaranteed to be something they blow straight past.

I've played longer and more in depth FPS campaigns from Activision.
