What I really like about Solasta is that it's a faithfull, by the rules, representation of the 5e edition of D&D. If you expect a PC game that recreates the pen and paper experience in combat, this is the game you look for.
Considering that it was developed by an indie developement team with limited resources, I remain expectant for their next project. The care and passion from the team is palpable, and following the developement process since the game entered early access I was witness to the rutinary updates explaining the state of the product and how it was constantly evolving, wich is something that I really apreciate.
The game itselfs offers you a main quest in wich you become owner of a very important relic that has the power to change the course of the world when you assemble all the ~infinity stones~ crown stones. Throughout the game you will be hacking and slashing, smiting, fireball-ing and spaming iconic cantrips, spells and abilities that I am glad to say are as satisfactory to use as in the tabletop counterpart. Your party can level up to 10th level, wich leaves me wishing for more and hoping that someday I'll be able to have a full lv 20 party. That aside, the game is fun overall and the combat is really what excells. For an indie game I would say it is quite lengthy, I finished the first playthrough at 42,3 hours and I can see a lot of people giving it a second or third round for those who want to test different party compositions.
Nevertheless, Solasta is not a perfect game. There are some minor bugs wich I don't really mind, but there are other areas where the decission taken by the devs was cuestionable in my opinion. The sidequests plainly feel hollow, consisting in 95% of the times in revisiting a previously explored area, having a new encounter with a couple of foes, looting some new item (wich I guess appears out of nowhere, considering that when you explore the area initially said item doesn't exist) and retourning to the side quest post to call it a day. I would have prefered to have more time invested in the main storyline that adding boring side missions that have no interesting NPCs nor expand the party backgrounds.
Another issue that I find is that the game lacks enemie variety, wich you can really feel from 7th level upwards. The amount of spiders, elementals (no, if you change the element but the moveset is identicall it doesn't count as a new enemy) and skeletons that you encounter becomes unbeareable. Also, the inventory is messy as hell and really begs for a type filter as minimum, a couple hours in and you will be looting so much stuff that finding an specific item becomes a game of its own. And the amount of magic items that you gain access to in the factions stores are just too broken to my taste, at late game you can have a party armed to the teeth with strong magic items, such as belts of fire giant strength.
Having said all of this, my guess is that many (if not all) of this problems go hand in hand with the fact that it was a small production from a small team with small funds, at least compared to some other game in developement that uses 5e... All this criticisms that I made are just for explaining what the experience felt in
general, the good and the bad.
For the future (be it as expansions of this game or a new one) I hope for more classes/races, a more nuanced story line with memorable characters, and most importantly a multiplayer (this I consider a MUST due to the fact that it encapsules the best thing of D&D, sharing a story with a group of friends).
If you are looking for the short version, I recommend this game. 8/10 pls continue your work, guys.

It´s really sad to see a game with such potential as this one, buying it, playing it and realizing you are experiencing an unfinished product that just cost you USD 60,00.
The story is really good, the shootouts are all that you could expect when you imagine the "friday night firefights" from the table role playing game, and Night City is a beautifull place filled with events and places to behold and participate in.
And yet, all that falls apart due to unconsistent frame rate (even with the newest equipment), mission bugs that force you to load old saves, weird vehicle physics, being hit by a car and getting thown out of the map, etc.
Beneath all it's flaws, there is a true gem here. But right now I can´t recommend it to other people knowing that there are so many things that ruin the experience as it stands today.
I hope those patches come soon.

If you wonder why WOTC hired Larian to make Baldur's Gate 3 and not any other developer, this is your answer. Play it with a friend (couch co-op or online) to enjoy the best experience possible.
