HoH2 repeats the mistakes of HW2 making the game overall less fun and tedious, HoH base game was already solid on release with updates from the dev making the game even better while adding mostly good DLCs, so just what went wrong?
Uglier UI/removing features
Propobly the worst in the series, bland and oversimplified, have you seen the guild tab? exel spreedsheats look prettier. Also no more pausing while opening character screen and you can't even move while it's opened even though it takes half the screen. And The worst of all, removing fountain, one of the best features of HoH, church now also gives weak bonuses for a run instead of granting powerful passive bonuses/bonus attack.
Enemy design/Difficulty/Progression
The game is overall harder for no reason, especially the early game and stages with big maps/few tanky enemies/undodgeable attacks/Bosses being bullet sponges and having summons that pose bigger threat than the boss.
shops are no longer guaranteed, while RNG is now much more important (more on that later) your ore is now divided into 6 different resources while nerfing bonuses to gathering. It also becomes hard to realize what enemies are doing with too many effects on the screen.
Characters
Health and mana regen is now much higher since you can't really dodge that well and while the equipment is nice it quickly becomes problematic, you need stats and higher lv EQ has high stat requirements making you spend most points on your main stat, weapon dmg is now based mainly from your equipped weapon and your main stat only increases spell dmg for some reason. The Character now have subclasses with 2 skills(lv10 + Town hall lv2), but you start with 4 skills + right/left hand skill, due to this you have less skills to upgrade while your characters got either new, less intresting skills or worse version of HoH skills, you now have orbs that can upgrade one of the skills, these sadly require RNG for your desired upgrade with no refresh option. The priest was replaced with warrior propobly due to balancing as with high mana regen you could easily restore hp.
Summary
HoH2 ignored everything good about HoH making a game that is nothing like the first one, a huge dissapointment. While the game isn't that bad it's not really a "HoH" game and should be it's own spinoff.
With the same enemies, bad and unfun design with more grind, nerfed characters, removed features, questionable difficulty. I wouldn't really recommend it to the fans of HoH, as this feels more like an MMO. where numbers on the character and RNG is more important than skill. Also Paladin is the best(and most popular) character while rogue feels like a joke(least popular)

Early Access Review
It's like Ultrakill but Hack and Slash. Currently not much content in the game mostly because of the movement allowing you to quickly explore but for the price of the game it's a worthwhile investment.
