Early Access Review
Its an "up to 3" man FPS coop game that feels like Doom and System Shock, Sometimes you're Doomguy, sometimes your the hacker from System Shock. I think its worth full price, about 5 hours in and me and a buddy have gotten about halfway through, but blindly stumbling into the new enemies, modular critters, and room tiles is great fun.

The following review will be updated in the future, after I've played promised future content)
(Review as of 8.5 hours, Positive)
Early game feels like DL1, haven't gotten further, if bad will update review with playtime

(Review as of 76.1 hours, Negative)
TLDR: A poor game which improves upon a few core aspects of the original, but drops the ball everywhere else, a sad waste of my time

~~~Bugs (Main reason for Negative)~~~
As of Patch 1.04 Dying Light 2, is plagued by an absurd amount of bugs, examples being:
-A black screen which bricks the game right be for the end of story climax cut-scene
-Multiple game breaking bugs commonly present and recurring throughout main story quests
-Gamebreaking Rendering during cutscene transitions (Where there should be a black screen, is the game trying to load the entire map from temporary player placement points in-between cutscenes)
-Models A-posing with telepathic weapons swinging wildly during cutscenes (A bit hard to feel bad for a major story character who just got shot when you are staring at the street where he is supposed to be laying down injured, while his body A-Poses right next to the guy holding him)
These are just a few major bugs, the game has plenty of minor bugs riddled throughout it. Most of the these bugs only become apparent in later parts of the game, and increase in the final two main story quest lines.
~Story~
For a game marketed on its story, it leaves me wanting in every area, DL1's story wasn't the greatest thing ever written, but it was capable of making me at least care about characters, it at least had the ability to create good horror (That ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hotel) and tense (Breken losing his ♥♥♥♥) scenes. Throughout ALL of Dying Light 2 you will be heavily railroaded for plot contrivance, always being pushed towards the next big predetermined conflict, while the game pretends you can alter or change anything other than a single character death.
Every character in this game is a joke, the only one I cared about throughout was Hakon, and I could have told you his entire ark before it happened, the plot is so predictable you can see everything coming. A complete disappointment. You will have opportunities for great scenes and just have them thrown away because the writers couldn't be bothered. (The VNC tower mission is a joke)
~Combat~
-Combat is fun and has options to experiment with, so it doesn't get stale, at least from a mechanics point of view, however due to extremely limited human enemy types (Regular dude with stick, BIG DUDE with BIGGER STICK, fire breathing guy, and Bow dude) and of the infected (Regular Zombie, Viral, small demolisher (NEW), Jumpy lady (New), Howler(New), Spitter, bloater, goon, Real Demolisher, Volatile) of only which three are new and one just a weak version of a present infected while another is just a alarm mechanic for chases, the combat suffers.
-Add on top of that list the fact that most dungeons (Dark hollows) are cut and paste from 6 (if that many) preset building layouts and the enemy's "Gamemaster AI" hardly ever actually adapts beyond hyper armor or hyper dodging things you use frequently and combat is always the same deal, once you've figured out one of the 13 enemy types, you will never have to do anything different and you get a poor experience
-Night time was a staple in Dying light 1, in Dying Light 2 it has been nerfed into nothing more than a filter with increased enemy spawns, there are no prowling virals or volatiles in Dying Light 2, the only way a chase starts is if you piss off a howler, which might be challenging to avoid if they had any path finding and weren't always at the same static predetermined spots (Sometimes they spawn with no AI, or don't spawn at all)
-Side quests come in three flavors, Genuine side quest with effort (15%), Go here fetch quest (75%), and "Play the minigame" (10%) The quests that have effort and soul behind them stand out a ton from everything else, its a shame everything else is Ubisoft tier cut and paste garbage
~World and Traversal~
-A positive take away from this game is the movement system, which borrows heavily from Dying light 1, so much in fact that its not worth talking about
-The game map is fun to explore and noticeably changes depending on which faction you let control the area you are in, however most of these changes are visual and contribute very little in the grand scheme.
---The main changes to the traversal system are the tools you will be given on top of parkour:
-the grappling hook is back, but has been changed to be more dynamic and less game breaking. (good)
-The all new paraglider which is useless garbage at level 0 and 1, and gamebreakingly broken at lvl 2 and beyond, at level 2 you will receive the ability to gain a large boost of speed for a short time for a small amount of stamina, merely aim upwards and boost, repeat on boost cooldown, and you can gain altitude and fly wherever you want, parkour need not apply, you will have to land every 30 seconds to recharge, but you can cover large chunks of the map with this thing in 30 seconds. (Bad)
TLDR: Short but sweet, some of the best gun play and movement mechanics I've had the pleasure of playing with. Also BT is a good deathbot and you best believe you'll love him.
