A game I can see myself playing for a good many hours considering how many hours I've put into Euro Truck Sim and Elite Dangerous.

Be mindful that the ship you get is not a "spaceship" in the... traditional sense. It is 100% "Trucks in Space," which includes having to back up to hitch trailers, and no strafing left or right like in Elite Dangerous. That can be a pain to get use to.
The ship definitely requires a bit more maintenance than both those games required you to do, which isn't bad, just something to consider. Your gameplay won't just be pick-up, fly, deliver, refuel, repeat. You'll have to replace low batteries and damaged parts, physically leave the ship to apply repair plates after hitting that other truck you swear shouldn't have been there during your travels. It's a nice change of pace in my opinion, but there are other difficulty settings (plus a custom option) to fit your playstyle. I have not fiddled with that so I couldn't say how those options work.

Some issues with the game right now:

Some FPS drops during flying and especially while docked. It's a huge hit and it does need optimization of some sort, I hope the game gets that.

Again, I'm enjoying what I've played of it so far and will definitely keep playing, but it's certainly not perfect. I want this game to succeed and maybe get some updates or expansions. The developers just have a bit more work ahead of them, and I wish them the best of luck :)

A random game a friend suggested I try because I enjoy typing stuff. I bought it on a whim and have come to love it entirely ^^

Plenty of difficulty options if the regular difficulty is too much, or it's somehow not difficult enough.
Give it a chance, it's pretty addicting.

A series I adored since the first Helldivers on the PS3, with a passionate and fantastic development team that continue to work out the issues with it. It's a game I'd recommend to as many people as possible with even the slightest interest in it.
