I pre-ordered this game in June not really knowing what to expect. I saw a cat, robots and a cyberpunk-esque city and thought,"Oh, that looks neat!" After that I honestly forgot about it until its release. After playing it I can honestly say that I will never forget such a fun, unique and thought provoking experience.

Gameplay-It perfectly encapsulates what it is to embody a domestic cat while weaving an enticing and mysterious world. The story is absolutely fantastic and though you might want to push forward to see the end, I would implore you to take your time. The game encourages you to act as a cat would; going where you please and letting your curiosity guide you.No game mechanic is without its purpose and nothing feels tacked on or poorly designed. That isn't to say that some mechanic aren't just there for sheer enjoyment i.e. ruining every rug you come across because... cat!

Graphics/Environment-The environments are jaw droppingly beautiful and feel incredibly alive. It has some of the best lighting that I have seen in a game. Each character has their own name and story to tell, making it even more immersive. The Musical Score is adaptive and changes perfectly along with the tonal changes of the game and is beautiful.

Story-Without Spoiling anything I will just say that the developers set out to tell a story that would have the player asking themselves introspective questions at the end. this story could not be told in any other way and it was executed perfectly. As a cat you are a silent protagonist, but as a cat you also have more agency than anyone else in the game. Your thoughts and feelings are conveyed through your actions. You are a stranger in a strange land just passing through. The player, much like the cat itself doesn't have a full grasp of the world around it. But a cat always knows where it wants to go and what it wants to do. As you continue your journey and learn more about the world and its people, you will go from a cat just trying to get home to a cat that has forged lasting bonds and carries the wills of many.

In closing, Stray was an absolutely phenomenal game I give it 1 Existential crisis/Meow.
