From completely under-delivering on what should've been an exciting seasonal story to introducing systems that break the game even more such as skill based match making and a hard nerf on aerial combat, give this game a pass. Do not let it waste your time because it will not respect or reward you for it.

Any sign of innovation in this development team is completely gone. Every season is the same RNG grind with a seasonal story that follows the same format every week and an event that's nothing more than a cash shop advertisement. If that isn't enough to drain any motivation for playing this game, the constant bugs, connection issues, nonstop reminders to spend more money, or lack of any sign of greener pastures will.

Edit:
If you're not remotely watching Destiny YouTubers and streamers, give this game a pass. There are so many mechanics now that are "secret" that you will never know about if you aren't constantly keeping yourself up to date. Then other players in the community get all pissy and leave mid-activity (a match-made activity where others cannot join midway mind you) when you didn't do the objective you had no idea about and still wouldn't know until you head over to the subreddit or forums. Some people really just don't know how to communicate even when a primitive chat function is available.

The story and lore is interesting, but the execution took a nose dive with the release of Lightfall and subsequent seasons. While cut-scenes are great tools for story telling, it's been over-used and it would be nice to be part of the story. In game you're just the mindless powerful guardian who has slain gods, following orders without knowing why you're doing what you're told to. Why can't we the guardian be part of narrative or even lead it for once. Is it because it would be too expensive to cast voice actors for each race in each supported language? Hard to believe that when the studio is making record profits expansion after expansion.

We thought the Sony acquisition for 3.6 billion would allow Bungie to focus more on quality of life improvements and game stability rather than chasing micro-transactions. Only the opposite has happened since then and at an alarming rate. I haven't played Diablo but just head over there. Don't bother boarding this already sinking ship.

Season of the Plunder was when Bungie stole everyone's money and gave them nothing but a ship with holes, Season of the Deep is that ship now reaching rock bottom.
