Bottom line: This game had huge potential, but couldn't live up to expectations. With Wreckfest I had much more fun.

Pros:

top-notch rock soundtrack
some nice track designs
lots of cars, which - although being fictional - mimic real-life car models

Cons:

There are only two AI difficulty levels, with the easier one having extreme rubber-banding.
Some of the career races are frustratingly difficult for a casual gamer like myself, forcing you to restart them over and over again until you can progress further in the career. Switching between the 2 AI difficulty levels does not really help much, especially for the time trial races, where they make no difference.
An aggressive driving style towards the opponents does not pay off in this game as you end up on the losing side more often than not. I cannot count how often I needed the "reset car" button after being turned around by the opponents, who annoyingly respawn quicker than you.
Car handling, car physics and car crashes in Wreckfest make much more fun.
For heavier crashes Trial Out always switches briefly to slow motion.
Much fewer opponents than in Wreckfest races, which is especially a pity on the demolition derby tracks with track intersections.
Partially senseless car tuning system:
1. If you make your car faster, your opponents also get accordingly faster.
2. Per car there are about 6 different body paintworks. However, only 2 of them give a free car repair bonus, which makes you never choose any of the other 4 paintworks in order to farm as much money as possible for new cars.
'Meh' car sounds.
The menu controls with gamepad are bugged as hell - forcing you to switch constantly between gamepad and mouse.
