This is a guilty pleasure type of game for sure. It's by no means a masterpiece, but it takes pieces of milsim, gun-n-run FPS, and even Ubisoft open world shooters, and somehow it all just works without overreaching. There are none of the true-to-life gun details down to the notch on the rails, or big explosions and epic assaults, horse testicles, or anything like that... but damn it's just releases buckets of dopamines to pop those brain-obliterating headshots from 1900m away, stealth kills a camp without anyone noticing, or just pop the target and slip away without anyone ever even realized anything.

Love the level design here, and there is a lot of potential. There are plenty of checkpoints, and fast travel points, so it is rarely ever annoying to just reload if things isn't going the way you want, so you can play like a pro assassin and get those dopamine-release moments that you want, however you want. And the mission maps feel big but not Ubisoft-greedy filled with too much ♥♥♥♥ to care about. The layout always guide you toward scenarios but allow you enough space to "play your way". This type of level design is probably unique to this franchise, and there are a lot of potential here. Contracts 3 can build city levels (ahemGothamKnightDeadshotahem) and you can still get the same feeling of vastness without overreaching.

The story can pretty much be ignored with this type of games, but it does serves well to push the game forward. But I love the relationship between Raven and his handler. The handler is like a polite British man who just has the "caring father" vibes, always giving supportive comments, urging his son onward to destabilize regimes. Raven himself is a brutal sociopath (the way he interrogates enemies is just mean-spirited), but in a way that is antithetical to the goal of his employer so it doesn't feel like he's just another bland country-loving jarhead. This guy is a contracted killer, he loves his job and it shows.

Generally if you like stealth games and vibe with the whole "freelance assassin destabilizing regime at all costs" deal then this game is for you. Though I wish there is more to the "Contract" side of the game, and generally better placements of enemies because they are either very braindead, or the rival sniper materializes out of thin air right as you load in and just zero on you. This is by no means a masterpiece, but it is so much fun that it is a guilty pleasure to play.

Early Access Review
It's like Ready or Not, but instead of a cop you're an unfriendly CIA assassin.

Graphics and performance:
A potato can probably run this game and still get eye-popping particles effect. Frame rates never dipped below 60, even at the most intense of action sequences.

Story:
Wacky Woohoo Pizzaman Adventure (TM) starring Michael Jackson, chainsaw motorcycle and rocket jumps, featuring nutshots and high octane insanity. Seriously, half the ♥♥♥♥ that Dante does makes you question how much depression-prescribed cocaine goes into the development of this game.

As the legendary Devil Hunter, you are jobbed to kill some big bad called Urizen that unleashed hell on earth, and rip and tear along the way. There are some interesting plot twists, but to really feel the impact you will need to at least read the wiki on who the ♥♥♥♥ any of these people are.

And my man Vergil is back and is as MOTIVATED and focused as ever, also the most OP thing to ever walked the Earth. This man doesn't just forgive me sense I must go all out just once... he goes ALL out ALL the time its tear-jerkingly motivating. He's THE reason cool kids bought mall katanas back in the early 2000s.

And yeah I guess Nero and V is in here but who cares. So Lady and Trish appear at some point, cool?

Sound:
Sick soundtrack with hard-hitting, scream-in-the-shower anthems such as Subhuman (personal favorite), Devil Trigger and of course, Bury the Light. One of those rare games that the soundtrack actually helps you play better.

Gameplay:
Dark Souls has the roll, Sekiro has the deflect, and DMC has the combo chain. You chain combos to get high score to achieve S rank. But later difficulties, chaining combos become essential just to stay alive because you will get absolutely wrecked if you missed your Royal Guard. The combos get absolutely insane as enemies flying everywhere/set on fire/explode as you chain different moves/guns/Devil Arms/Nero's stumpty/♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ zoo magic into a symphony of destruction, while some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ maniac screams "YOU CANNOT KILL MEEE, I AM OMEGAAAA" in the background. Its an experience that must be played to understand.

You basically replay the missions over and over to get S rank on all, but it gets extremely addicting as you learn to be creative with your combos. Playing Dante, for example, is like playing jazz piano since you chain combos literally based on how you feel at the time.

Later on you unlock higher difficulty and most importantly, Bloody Palace. This is 99(?) floors of increasingly difficult enemies for you to clear with each character.

Best of all, all of your unlocks are permanent throughout ALL difficulties, so you just get better and better with the game.

Verdict:
Definitely a yes. Might not appeal to everyone since its a very linear game, but trust me I love open-ended games but DMC has me grinding until 3am, smiling from ear to ear as adrenaline shoots out of my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Good point to jump on board and enjoy some of the old DMC games as well.
