I played this on and off over the years and I'm currently reinstalling for another run or two. This is an OG in the autobattling/rougelike genre and deserves far more attention than it receives. The rng can be nasty, but overall still a great game.

Really like the game. The starting choices and tech choices offer a lot of options for different playstyles.

On higher difficulties, the game is quite hard. So choose that with caution :-D

Also, people complain about rng, and I agree, there are bad map seeds or seeds that force you to take bets early on and lock you in a fail-state early on. But usually, I found ways I could have played better and in the end, a quick restart is no problem in a game that usually takes 1-3 hours. So that is no problem for me.

Really cool game. I love to build and organize huge production facilities that churn out resources and I love tower defense games. The only downside is, there are no real goals. You can play a map for an extremely long time and go super deep in the waves, but to me a challenging and fast paced mode is missing.

Still an extremely good game.

Beautiful looks, solid gameplay. Prize for a full collection is down to ~200€ which is a lot cheaper than the main competitor hearthstone.

In my opinion Dawn of War III is a good game with fun multiplayer. It is closer to DOW I than many players want to admit and it definitely is not a moba. With that out of the way on to more details.

I play the campaign on hard and missions are fun, but kind of slow. I guess most of them are more fun on normal difficulty. The story is decent and you get to know all races and features in detail. Some people complain that it is mainly used to introduce all parts of the multiplayer. I agree this is true, but it does so in a fun way.

Multiplayer is good and fairly balanced. People always complain about balance, but so far in 1v1 all races are viable and for each race several elite-choices, doctrine-choice and build-orders are viable. In 2v2 and 3v3 pretty much everything goes.
The game often gets compared to the moba genre, but for me elites play significiantly different from heroes/champions in your favorite moba. Also turrets, shield generators and the escalation phases are pretty good innovations in my opinion. Be careful, despite turrets rushes are viable and it is a fun challenge to defend while playing a macro game against them.

The only downside for me is the overload on active abilities. I'm simply to old and slow to use all my grenades, flamers, jumps and other abilities properly. The biggest potential of improvement for me would be auto-cast options like in the good old wc3.

I think this is the best total war game ever made. The campaign is very entertaining and plays totally different for each faction. I have finished two runs (empire and greenskin) and loved both. When I have more time again I'll also finish the other races at least once.

Now people often critize CA for their business practice regarding DLC. In my opinion people have no idea how much work it is to make a game. Blood and gore is dirt cheap and they have to sell it separately or lose a large fraction of their userbase. (Quick math: Their market research indicates that they could lose up to 25% of their customers, to keep the same revenue they'd have to increase the price of the base game by 33% if they add blood and gore in there.)

Beastman are not cheap, but there are tons of individual models. People critize that the dlc is more expensive compared to the base races and this has to be the case. Only a fraction of players buy the dlc, e.g., if 50% of the buyers of the base game buy the dlc for a race that is as large as a base game race, then the dlc has to cost 100% more than the races cut in the price of the base game. So if each race in the base game is 10€ and only 50% of the players buy the dlc, then it has to cost ~20€.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the dlc. I love smallish story campaigns most and I really hope the mini-campaign delivers.

This is how XCOM EU/EW should have been. Random maps, crazy new aliens and a nice mix of missions. Loving it.

Playing the game for a long time on and off as a casual player. Really like it despite its flaws.

Deathmatch in big stompy robots is fun. Mech customization is fun (even though it is easier to tinker around on external websites instead of the mechbay). Community Warfare is fun if you get a decent team.

Just keep in mind this is free2play, so you will likely never own a significiant portion of the mechs. To me it doesn't really matter. It is easy enough to get a few maxed out and then it is even playing field to grind for more.

Competitive, turn-based hero arena combat.

Sure it is f2p, but one of best and most fair of its kind.
