While the game itself is great I refuse to support censorship in any way, shape or form.

While the narration and the images themselves sometimes don't fit the text it doesn't really take away from the quality, and the intense tragedy, of the story we are being told. Many of the characters are just good, honest people that don't deserve the terrible things that happen to them. Even Chelsey Trader who is the main villain of the main game is just a good, well meaning person who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time trying to do the right thing. Something that just makes her fate all the more tragic.

Final score: 9.5/10. I had to take away a half point for the aforementioned slip ups as well as the fact that there’s no real controls once you’re reading a story. Still, very impressive!

Killer Frequency is how you do a horror game right. Very, VERY, few of the scares are jump scares and the jump scares that do happen are earned after hours of building up the tension through nothing more than the power of fantastic acting and mood building. You know that there is a serial killer stalking the streets of the small town tonight, but you are safe inside your studio booth right? But then callers start to call in, begging for help, and they all thought that they were safe as well, until it’s revealed that they weren’t so safe after all..

Besides this it’s also a lovely throwback to the horror movies of the 80s (and the 80s in general! “The future is floppy!”) and it’s peppered with references to slasher movie franchises while having fun with a lot of the known tropes of slasher movies.

As a last note, this game reminded me a lot of the “King Falls AM” podcast in the best possible way. From the funny, well written and memorable characters that you can’t help but to fall in love over the course of the night to the cozy small town vibe.. It was just a treat! I don’t know if the creators ever listened to King Falls AM (although the fact that the station is called “KFAM” makes me suspect that they have) but even if they didn’t then it was a throwback for me in the best possible way!

So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone involved in making this game a reality! You are all truly wonderful! :)

I think that Not Saber on Youtube describe it the best: "They are not screaming because of the monsters, they are screaming because of you!"

In Trepang2 you ARE the monster. You are the thing going bump in the night. You are the thing the security guards at Horizon tell ghost stories about during late night shifts. You are the thing they pray for their god to protect them against.

Played this during the free weekend and well, I want to say this: I genuinely believe that this game will one day be absolutely fantastic. It really has the makings of greatness. However, right now there's just too many small things plagueing it.

Kill the heretic before it can speak it's lies!

Pros:
1. Engaging story.
2. Memorable and likable characters.
3. Excellent combat.
4. The chance to experience a completely new side of the Yakuza universe.

Cons:
1. No karaoke!

Result:
Completely unplayable!

(....Seriously though, this is a great game and I highly recommend it!)
