10 hours, 3 playthroughs learning the mechanics and my thoughts.

I love city-building games and this one was on my wishlist for quite some time and playing the Demo I made my choice - at least for me, Early access is not worth my time and money at the stage it is today, if the things I mentioned below are the same as in the Demo. Although I had fun playing it, graphics are cute, music fits the atmosphere, various things can be unlocked over time and you expand your village and gain more reputation. Some building mechanics are similar to Cities: Skylines, didn't like that at first, but learnt that more houses can fit in if the area is expanded a little bit. But some QoL things finally got me:

- RMB click to close windows is a nice feature, but I miss ESC function to do that job, you can have something opened in game, like a trade menu, and ESC just brings Main menu window on top.

- One of the biggest things I didn't like - It is not easy to change the habits of villagers in how they use the trails, as I expanded I opened new areas to live and work, they were using the same paths walking around and taking more time to do their jobs. To add more paths I had to use fences a lot (pausing them works fine, after new path is formed you can delete them), which takes a lot of time and effort.

- Last thing which had me stop playing the game was cost of the buildings, placing it costs gold, but if I change my mind and destroy it before the construction that gold is not refunded. It's probably the same with materials when your builders bring them on a construction site. In my opinion it makes harder to organize the village with less room for error, especially on the first playthrough for new players.

I'm kinda in the middle here, but it's a nice game and it works, so I guess I can recommend it, just a few things could be improved.

First, I gotta say, I haven't played Project Zomboid, so I'm not gonna compare them. And I didn't play after recent update, so my knowledge can be outdated.

As a game in early access it is not bad, I really enjoyed it. There were not enough things to do at the time I played, so I focused my time on building, as there's very little to build, I had to improvise a lot.

I heard those who say controls are terrible, there is advice: change camera rotation to MMB and use your "Q" and "E" for something else. Just need to find everything in settings menu.

Like other many games, this one also has bugs, but Dev team on Discord is very helpful, they listen, they ask questions, they fix things and release big updates.

I recommend this game, but if you are not sure just wait for more updates, or grab it when it's on sale.

It's a beautiful game with an awesome soundtrack. Worth buying while on sale.
