Early Access Review
I like the concept of this game, really I do. But I just can't recommend it. It is an Early Access game, and it is actually updated more frequently than most EA games, but it's still plagued with issues. The editing is awkward, and the racing is worse. It doesn't control well at the best of times, and it's almost unplayable with your car hitting bouncing off invisible walls in the middle of flat roads at the worst of times. The project should have cooked for another year before even going into Early Access. This isn't a total condemnation- in 2 or 3 years in could be a great game. But I'm not happy to have played it now.

Aside from all the other issues, I would just like to point out that it doesn't actually work with Steam, but requires a Battle.net login anyway.

HEX was, genuinely, one of my favorite single-player TCG game experiences for quite a while. It had some issues, sure, but there's not a ton of competition in that genre, compared to versus TCG games.

Unfortunately, after the servers were taken down, that single-player experience is no longer available, a consequence of the always-online model.

Within a month of the game's release, I wrote my first review of it, which I have preserved below. My opinion, at the time, was mixed, but generally optimistic. I would say that everything I wrote is more or less still true, just not quite living up to my hopes:

Content: While the game launched with a lot of content, new content has been glacially slow. And even when they do announce a new content patch, it's 50/50 that it will be delayed from the announced release date.

Players: Every single day it feels like there are fewer actual people playing, and more bots. Nothing is being done about the bot problem, and people are quitting.

Time: This game really does not respect your time, at all. Everything you want to do is other padded out so it takes uncomfortably long, or time gated to only be possible at certain times of day. You see those hours played on this review? More than half of that time was me, afk, waiting for the next event timer, but not wanting to quit the game because it takes obnoxiously long to start up. Or worse, get stuck in a queue and miss the event window, which is only open for 3 minutes.

Overall, the game isn't necessarily any worse than it was when it launched. But I've run out of content I want to do, and people I want to play with. It's lacking the kind of long-term draw I expect from an MMO. For that reason, my review has tipped from positive to negative.

----- Original Review ----

Pro: There's a lot of content to explore.
Con: It's all old content that as already been explored, so everyone else is blitzing past you by following a speedrun guide.

Pro: It's free to play.
Con: The pay-to-win mechanics are fairly heavy-handed. While not the worst I've ever seen, they're present in almost every part of the game. And there are bots everywhere.

Pro: There are a lot of people playing, so it's easy to find a group to play with.
Cons: Unlike some similar games, players are still segregated into isolated servers. You might not be able to join the same server as your friends. Or you might have to wait in a login queue to get into your server. The launch was awful, and there are still server issues sometimes.

Pro: Some parts of the game are genuinely challenging and feel fun to learn.
Con: They have already announced they will be nerfing those parts of the game to make them easier.

Overall I rate it an 'I'm still playing it, but only because there's nothing better around / 10'

It's a competent colony sim game, but... that's about it.

It started off good, but both the campaign and the gameplay just sort of trail off without adding anything new. There's not much in the way of replay value, the later campaign levels were starting to feel repetitive even playing them for the first time, because there's just not much there for interesting builds or interesting challenges. You're basically just building the same buildings in a slightly different arrangement every time. Even playing fairly casually, it barely took 40 hours to complete the campaign and 100% the achievements, and I wouldn't hold your breath for it getting updated any time soon.

If you buy it on sale, it might be a decent value, but it's not a very deep game by any metric.

I played Neverwinter for over 3000 hours. Then one day in 2017, a patch dropped that cut the damage of my class in half. My options were reroll another class and hope that one doesn't get nerfed, or quit. So I quit.

So yeah, this is a late review. Maybe the game is better now, I wouldn't know. I don't want to invest time in a character, only to have the rug pulled out from under me. My trust in this developer is gone.

Probably the best single-player card-game experience to be found anywhere, after the floundering of HEX.

Kinda disappointing. The vaunted customization is meager at best. Almost feels like an early access game that just isn't finished yet.

A bit simple, but it's an alright action-platforming game. I'd go on but I'm a bit short of time.
