When first released this game was a mess, a giant mess, wasn't finished and should not of been released so quickly. I was hugely dissapointed as I always thought Ancient Rome would make the best Total War games (Rome 1).
And whilst I admit, it still has issues, it has improved quite abit since launch, with 7 (yes 7) patches and more to come. I am a massive Total war fan, have been since Shogun 1, and if you love stratergy, or ancient history, then this is a good game for you. I have a mid-tier computer and the game runs fine for me (I have it on medium/high settings, it can get alittle choppy when there is 4000+ units on the screen). There is also a large range of mods to choose from, ranging from texture skins to full on gameplay changes, Radious Total war mod for example is great (and I highly recommend it), it really brings the campaign alive.
I am one of the players who bought the game from release and played it since, it has improved, I think alot of people are still rightly mad at the release condition so they review it negatively. Creative Assembly post regularly on the forums letting players know what they have been up to with the incoming patches, and try to take in the feedback they recieve. I can't remember the last developer to patch a game 7 times in 4 months.
On release this game was 6/10 at best, now I give it a 8/10 but still improving. Whilst playing it now, I am starting to get the old feelings of Rome1, which is good. Also, am I the only one who loves the music???
