I really enjoyed this point and click adventure. It didn't feel like it dragged on and pretty much all of the deduction stuff was logical. Also, no part felt like a pixel hunt during the gameplay. For the most part I'd recommend this game, especially since it's free.

If there was something I didn't like, it was the ring collection stuff. It didn't feel like it fit into the point and click style. It also didn't really feel like Sonic the Hedgehog gameplay. It just mostly felt like filler that was out of place.

If you like space shooters and rhythm games you'll most likely like this one.

The main hook is that the game's intensity and difficulty (followed by neat visual effects) is impacted by the tracks you play. You can import your own songs or if you've got nothing to play, the game has several stations you can choose from.

Ultimately, it's a nice time waster in-between any other games you may be playing as pretty easy and quick pick up a round or too.

Highly recommend, unless you get epileptic seizures. In that case, stay the hell away from this game or you'll be in for a bad time.

Hm...where should I start? I originally discovered this game when I was still somewhat optimistic about backer sites like Kickstarter. After coming off of binge sessions of Civilization 5, I was looking for a new 4X game to play. Endless Legend caught my attention when I was looking through interesting games to back. The lore and more rpg-ish direction ultimately drew me in and I ended up backing the game. Well enough rambling, let's get into some of the pros and cons.

Pros

+The game's lore, everything from the poetry in the loading screens to the backstory in the main faction quests have had a lot of work and dedication put into them. The factions all seem to have their own distinct motivations for what they do.

+Each of the races is distinct down to their unit design and abilities. Some also have different available win conditions and restrictions. Even the minor factions have unique units.

+Customization is a big factor in matches and also adds longevity to the game. You can change out the gear on both your heroes and units. There are a lot of options, some are behind science milestones (research achieved through science point generation) while other equipment can be unlocked through special tech from completing quests/searching ruins. There is even legendary gear for heroes that has its own lore.

You can also create custom factions from a pool of traits from all of the other factions. Each trait has its own point modifier and the total must be less than a set limit. You don't like how any of the other factions play? You can try and make your own. This can result in some pretty powerful combinations so luckily there's an option to disable custom factions in multiplayer.

There's even Steam Workshop support if you want to customize your game even more.

+There are multiple victory conditions as with many 4X games. In addition to the more common Diplomatic, Domination, Expansion, Point, and Science conditions there are also Wonder and Quest conditions. You can also win through Allied Victory without setting up prior teams.

+The major expansion packs are priced at a fairly decent price point and actually add a considerable number of changes. Shifters revamps Winter to actually be a fairly fun season and completely changes how it works with a voting system, additional research and different exploration/combat options. Shadows adds an espionage system where you can steal tech or even incite rebellions. Finally, Tempest completely fleshes out water exploration and combat by adding new units and the ability the control oceans through fortresses. The best part is that only the host needs to have the expansions.

Cons

-The Winter season. See I'm kind of split on this. For lore reasons I very much enjoyed the inclusion of Winter. It actually makes sense being in the game and gives a rather desolate feeling to the environment. It's also a nice change of scenary especially since a number of 4X games only seem to have one season. However, it slows down the game considerably. Resource generation is much lower in this season and movement penalties are harsh.

-The vanilla game is fairly basic you'll most likely want to pick up some of the expansions to enhance your gameplay. Good thing the game is fairly cheap when on sale (with expansions).

Neutral

+/- Combat. This is a tough one for me (frankly it might be best for you to disregard this part if you like combat in 4X games). If you're more of a pacifist in 4X games like me you most likely won't enjoy the combat. If you're also looking for long battles this might not be that great for you either as battles are only 6 battle turns long (which all takes place in one actual turn). However, if you like faster combat and the ability to make very diverse armies (you can use each factions unique units and mercenaries from the market ranging from minor factions and other major factions) this might be for you.

Personally, I feel this game deserves the “Even Better Than I Expected” Award as the game has smashed my expectations coming off of Civilization 5 with its more interesting lore and the additional RPG mechanics.

A pretty fun combination of 1st person shooter and loot based RPG. Better with friends especially after playthrough 2.

Boss battles can get pretty crazy.

This free 2 play game is one of the best out there. If you like over the top action and particularly ridiculous moments (Monoculous comes to mind) you should download it immediately. Valve really mad e a gem here with its relatively balanced game play and team based battles.
