Backed on Kickstarter.
Not disappointed.

Its a comedic take on the dating sim, with a multiplayer mode and rule of comedy taking priority over logic or tropes. The result is very amusing, with almost no time spent skipping text unless you've seen the same scene multiple times. Thankfully there is a LOT of scenes that randomly appear, although when pursuing the same route the same way you'll start noticing a pattern which will allow you to win after several playthroughs; as a result there's a fair amout of replay value. There's even situations where there are no good answers, something unexpected in the genre. Can't wait for more content in expansions or whatever. There's some simple voice acting for the mood of the character speaking, none of it is annoying and goes well with the text.
My only real complaint is that the ending credits theme will get old fast given that the game encourages a lot of replaying and rewards you with extra gags in the credits. A few that rotate would have been nice.

Yeah, some people complained about the whole "choose your pronoun, romance anyone" thing. Just remember, its capitalism to add an option that makes some people happy, and take advantage of it for more comedy. "My gender is Batman." Or just ignore it, it defaults. Seriously, its one box, stop complaining. You don't wanna bang the werewolf, don't hang out with him.

Also, its monsters. They don't make enough of that anymore, unless its geared exclusively for preteen girls or has Adam Sandler. What happened to Addams Family and Beetlejuice?! Even Halloween specials are light on actual spookiness! Throw money at it so they bandwagon and bring that stuff back again.

Great game, one of the spiritual successors to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.

Initially I was a bit down on the game until I started listening to some "how to play" videos on Youtube and foud that I'd been playing it entirely wrong.

I think much of people's frustration with the game is they go the usual route of trying to keep your same heroes strong, and invest in buildings that will help fix their maladies. In truth you're supposed to play the game as "the world's most brutal HR rep" by dismissing heroes who become too insane or diseased to be of good, and invest your points into the buildings that let you recruit already powerful adventurers straight off the wagon to replace them. I actually had to watch that video just to know that you can kick them out in the first place, the button is underneath the option to rename and recolor heroes! The buildings that fix up heroes are more for endgame, or for a hero you're particularly fond of. Furthermore there's an anti-frustration feature in allowing you to resurrect one of a random three of your fallen heroes from time to time, so by keeping your graveyard somewhat empty of trash you may get to bring back a favorite.

Once I found that out I made the painstaking effort of fixing my past mistake, and now its rare for there to be frustration. Its still hard mind you, adventurers I invest in will die or become useless and I lose hard won items, but I don't feel like I'm hitting my head against a brick wall anymore.

Also, many bad reviews seem to mention the RNG. This is because buffs and debuffs are very important in this game, and planning for having a character who's sole job is to manage that is the way to go. Another solution is to utilize excessive abilities like bleed and blight, so you only need to hit once to continue to deal damage. Buffs, damage over time abilities, and debuffs all stack to an extent so a monster that debuffs every turn will cripple your party and cause you frustration, while using your own debuffs on your enemies or buffing your heroes every turn will allow you to flip the RNG against them. Using Herbal Remedy will remove most debuffs on your heroes instantly even during combat, so plan to bring extras to any delve to have a more enjoyable experience.

There's also the problem that the DLC content, Crimson Curse, activates the moment you do the first quest from it with little warning about what that will actually do. It is a HUGE noobie trap since it causes a very debilitating status effect on your heroes and causes a very difficult boss to begin randomly appearing, and shouldn't be started until you're able to kick adventurers out of your roster at will.

All in all, a wonderful game that I love, but it REALLY needs a better tutorial.

Cons: Old game and as a result suffers from old game problems such as bad dialogue mostly done by a small handful of voice actors barely pretending to be different characters, slow movement back and forth in the same area makes up a chapter, sudden difficulty spikes after a tedium of easy enemies, unskippable prologue tutorial, and the need to save constantly regardless of autosave feature due to largely unskippable cutscenes right after said autosave preventing you from healing/buffing yourself right before the enseuing fight.

Pros: If you're an older gamer or simply have more patience than a millenial hamster and none of the above turns your nose up, its a really great game. A fair amount more serious than your average game without being grimdark edgy. Also extremely lewd, you can bed an amazingly high number of characters if you want to be a casanova. Combat and crafting are simple, so gameplay is fairly easy to pick up fast.

The midpoint between Saints Row and Left 4 Dead.
Not a complete parody, but still has goofy moments and legitimate horror. Plays much closer to Saints Row 3, only without having to take any territory other than the rare safehouse.

Its good.

Framerate is bad, even on the lowest settings; this is a problem with the port and although there's workarounds I didn't find it quite bad enough to bother.

Its Left 4 Dead but better, and as Warhammer Fantasy.

Not much else to say about it.

If you liked Greek myths as a kid or an adult, buy this game. I could go into detail about how the gameplay is simple but enjoyable, the music is great, and so on. But the highest praise I can offer is that this is THE game you need to buy if your interest was ever mythology.

If that wasn't really your thing, then its pretty good otherwise. There's better out there, but this is a good and simple one to throw some time into.

Note that it has some crashing issues. In one playthrough, four times it crashed to desktop. Luckily it saves at the beginning of every area, so at most I lost five minutes of gameplay.

Not much to say, you wander through locations and sometimes try to find paths around wandering things that are out to kill you or run from them.

You get the first ending after only about an hour or two depending on how slow you take it and your skill level. There's four total endings, most of which are just what doorways you go through.

I recommend it. There's nothing in terms of mechanics other than walking and running, and there are three real jump scares by my count other than when you get killed.

Its actually the fact that they really accomplished the feel of being in a nightmare that makes me like it. Playing it, I actually remembered nightmares that I've had throughout my life and probably haven't remembered since waking up on the day after I had them.

Scared me more than a video game has since the first time I played Fatal Frame 2, and I don't know how long its been since I've seen a horror movie as scary.

Don't pay more than $8 for it, wait until there's a sale. There's not enough here for above that price.

The game actually tells you to play it with headphones, and trust me when I say it isn't for cheap jump scares but instead for more immersion. Play with the lights off and alone too, with a vibrating controller if you have it.

Sadly, this game is abandonware that has no mod support, no modding community to breath life into it, and it was never balanced for the game that it actually is and remains a very slow grind with extremely basic and poor AI. The game cheats to make them a threat, but goes overboard which explains the insane difficulty spike. This is a campaign game mostly, and since the other factions are procedurally generated every time you will run into the problem of being unable to progress at anything but the most sluggish of paces since the game lumps damage onto you that will result in permanent and literal crippling of characters you need in order to progress because the AI would otherwise spend its time actually running into the wall and spreading its forces out in random directions. This also makes most objectives difficult or impossible since the AI just swarms you every time, preventing you from accomplishing secondary objectives or even primary ones since they ignore them and just get in the way.

The game has an amazing atmosphere, great sound and music, and is visually stunning. But that's mostly what you are playing it for. If its cheap, fine. If you have the skills to mod it and can cheat your way out of the game cheating you, then I recommend it. But if you're a normal person wanting to play it as-is, ignore it. Which really pains me to say because I wanted to love this game so badly.

I write this with a bit of a warning; the game is NOT easy.
It's not even fair to say it's hard.

It's gruelingly difficult. It's astoundingly nigh-impossible at first.

So why play it?

You like a challenge. You want something that's "Gauntlet" without being Gauntlet.

It's frustrating as hell, and that's what makes it fun.

DO NOT EVER INSTALL THIS GAME UNLESS YOU KNOW FOR AN ABSOLUTE FACT YOU WANT TO PLAY IT AND KEEP PLAYING IT AHEAD OF TIME. I myself found it okay, although not what I personally like. I installed it, then tried it out on a friend's computer and realized that it's just a mode I used to play but was never very fond of in Warcraft 3, then uninstalled it.

Here's the thing though: Steam does not allow the removal of games, even free "available to everyone" ones, and with DOTA 2's near constant updates and announcements about tourneys and whatnot, you'll have to trudge your way through a fairly large amount of very large (insert unpleasant term here) posts to find any info about games you actually enjoy and want to know something about. Although you CAN hide unwanted games on your main library screen by putting them in a subcategory and keeping it miniaturized, you still get full feed from these games in the News section.

If Steam ever finds a way to remedy this, I'll delete this review but for now I'm warning people to really know for a 100% fact you want this game and intend to keep playing it before you even THINK of installing it.
