As a free to play game, there's actually a decent amount of flex as a player that wouldn't usually purchase microtransactions.

I have played the first Dungeon Defenders game and the sequel definitely feels a lot smoother to play than the first game.

The fact you can also play co-op for free with your friends too is great as well. You would be surprised at the amount of games that would not let you do this!

If you like plodding down dark hallways and getting one shotted by a skeleton with a bow and arrow and losing all the loot you accumulated over the past 20 minutes, you'll probably like Dark and Darker.

I have tried Dungeonborne too and to be honest, I much prefer Dungeonborne over this.

The combat felt very Morrowind-y of just hacking and slashing and hoping for the best.

Arma Tactics is painfully generic and is nothing like Arma by name either.

Everything controls very janky and you'll be left feeling like you should of just played XCOM instead.

I would avoid this

Spiral Knights is pretty dead, but you can still have some fun with the game even as a solo player.

A lot of people played this in the day for the TF2 hat, which makes sense.

Remember the Alliance of Valiant Arms FPS game you had to play for a TF2 hat, and it would install spyware on your computer? Good times.

Kingdom Rush Frontiers is a solid tower defense-type game if you liked playing Bloons TD or other games like that.

It's single-player only, so bare that in mind before you buy, as you won't be able to play this with friends.

There is a lot of content in the game, so that will definitely keep you busy.

Automobilista 2 absolutely SLAPS.

It's quite possibly one of the best racing sims I've played on PC, besides Assetto Corsa of course, but it does definitely give it a run for its money.

It has such great car and track variety and multiplayer is somewhat good (when you don't get punted into a wall at 200 MPH)

I play on a controller as I don't have any room for a wheel and pedals and it is very intuitive with a bog standard Xbox One controller.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the v1.6 update will bring.

If you like TrackMania and Rocket League, you'll probably like Distance.

It has three relatively short campaigns that are somewhat challenging at times, but there is also a truckload of additional levels to beat as well as Steam Workshop access that will definitely boost your play time.

I recommend picking this one up, when you can!!

Automobilista is a solid package for what you get.

It's very well-optimised as its an old game, and you get a lot of base game content too, including some rather obscurer cars and tracks that usually aren't in other sims.

I decided to bite the bullet and buy Automobilista 2, so my journey with this game is over.

It's worth buying on sale.

Stock Car Extreme is a great racing game in its own right, but I would personally just recommend picking up Automobilista instead.

Automobilista has working multiplayer, lots of mod support and more base game material and QoL upgrades that would increase your satisfaction playing the game.

Circuit Superstars is a cutesy top-down racing game with quite a large variety of content.

There is a review on talking about rubber-banding AI, and while I agree it can be annoying, I don't think it detracts too much from the experience.

You cannot purchase the Top Gear DLC anymore which is quite sad, but I imagine this is because of licensing.

Lastly, the game plays really well on Steam Deck!
