I played on normal mode and died on my second day. Now I'm playing in peaceful and having a great time on day 10. It's great for just chilling out on an island and exploring all the weird, screwed up stuff there is to see. And even on low graphic settings this game is pretty enough that I'm happy to walk places. Normally, if I'm allowed to sprint in a game, that's all I'm ever doing- but here, I'm content to just meander about, soaking up my surroundings and slowly gaining a mental map of landmarks.
So even if you're not into the difficulty/enemy aspect of the game, it's still worth the purchase.
