After 500+ hours I guess it's about time to decide if i like it or not eh? Let's see: Very passionate and active developer? Check! Nice GFX? Check! Endless belts and pipes and all the things to fill them for miles and miles? Oh hell ya! A tutorial robot that I've tried to do countless shameless things to? You know it! Add to this proceduraly (sp?) generated chunks, robo minions for miles and countless others bits and bobs gives a fairly good picture of the game as is soooo. Taking all this into account I guess I'll go with ..... maybe! hehehe If you're into this genre I think this title is a no brainer buy. The load times are almost negligible on my laptop and you can play how you like, steamroll it or take your time. Go big and massive or nice and compact, choice is yours. Have fun!

I was skeptical about being able to get a good workout in VR,I thought $30 was a little high but BoxVR had good reviews so I took a shot at it. I'm glad I did,I'm only about 5 hours into it at this point but I'm really liking it. It'll definitely get your heart rate up and make you sweat.

Having played the steam summer festival demo of occupy mars and now Prologue I can highly recommend this title. The developers took in the feedback they received from the demo and incorporated the most requested changes into Prologue and then added more in on top of all of that! What you get with Prologue is a nice teaser of some of the systems the developers have in mind for their early access release. It's a little bit difficult until you get the hang of it but the developers are very active in their discord channel and always willing to lend a hand. After playing this and chatting with the developers in their discord I can really tell how passionate this dev team is,I see a ton of potential for this title. If you're interested in this genre it's definitely worth a look.

If you're into the survival/building genre you owe it to yourself to give 7DTD a shot. IMHO it's the pinnacle of the genre and one of the few games I keep coming back to. The gfx and game play are solid and it has a ton of options for the player to customize each play through exactly how they want it.

The long dark was one of those games I was on the fence on for quite a while. I decided to pick it up on sale recently and I'm kicking myself for not buying it sooner!
My favorite thing about the game is the environment,It's absolutely gorgeous! To be honest I love almost everything about this game. The survival elements seem to be fairly well thought out and it has a pretty large spread of gear to use. The thing I hate is the wolves, they're the bane of my existance. The game is very rewarding but it'll also troll you. Just when you get all nice and comfy and slip up it'll punish you. It has 2 modes of play, a survival sandbox where the only goal is to survive as long as you can and a narrated story mode which leads you through the story of a survivor of a plane crash on his search for his sweety.
I can't recommend this game enough. If you're into the survival genre you owe it to yourself to get the long dark in your library. The only thing I can think I'd want, besides a flamethrower for those frikkin wolves, would be freeform basebuilding, maybe a horse to get around on or a pet to keep me company.

Let me start off by saying I really like the simulation genre of gaming as it lets me mess about with things that I don't get to mess around with IRL. In the case of Gold Rush, those things are heavy machinery. Something else I really enjoy is digging. You could say I really dig....digging,hehehe.
Ok,enough with the cheeseball,on with the review.

Lets start off with the graphics. Everything looks fairly high quality. I've got a pretty beefy system and run most settings on ultra and I'm very satisfied with the level of detail. Early game I've got a very high frame rate but as I get more machinery and equipment on the claim FPS starts to suffer. I still manage to hold frames above 30 later game but I've not yet got everything I want to have on a single claim. The scenery is very nice and the models for the equipment are done very well, most with at least some animation and removeable parts.

On to gameplay. I'm really enjoying my time spent in game. It's a bit of a grind especially at first. But if mining gold was easy everybody would be doing it,right? The controls for the equipment are crisp and responsive. Keybinds easily remapped through the in game interface. Two sticks aren't yet supported but I've read there's some workarounds for that. I was easily able to configure my Hotas to work with the excavator but my x box one controller seems to be a lot easier to use. The progression system seems to be a work in progress. The dev team is diligent about tweaking things and they're very responsive through thier Discord channel.

I guess I've been lucky and not really noticed many major bugs. There's a few nuisances for sure, like the large trailer and other equipment slowly sliding across terrain when stopped but nothing I'd term game breaking. The dev team seems to be quick to respond and hot fix most things.

Some things I'd like to see in Gold Rush or if they, hopefully, decide to do a sequel. Mod support, look at what it's done for Farming simulator and Space Engineers. Multiplayer, cause everythings better when you do it with friends. A personal vehicle like a side by side or 4 wheeler to get around on the claim with. A wider variety of equipment and the ability to customize the parts and color.

Overall I'd give Gold Rush a solid 8/10. If you're into the simulation genre and like to use heavy machinery to dig really big holes in the ground I'd say Gold Rush is a must have and definately a welcome addition to the simulation genre. With some work I could definately see Gold Rush being as big as Farming Simulator.

Is logistics your thing? Fancy spending an evening trouble shooting bottlenecks in your production chain? Do you get the giggles just thinking of building an insanely huge monstrosity of a factory for the sole purpose of firing a rocket into space? How about setting up a rail network to make all the railroad tycoons jealous or just play with a flame throwing tank to get to know the locals better? If you answered yes to any of the above then this just might be the game you've been looking for!
