History is littered with fallen empires, (Rome, Great Britain, Middle Earth), the crumbling of both physical and metaphorical boundaries, (the Berlin Wall, the Iron Curtain, Alexandria's defences in the Walking Dead), and of course the demise of what should/could have been iconic symbols of humankind's ingenuity, (the Titanic, the Hindenburg, MySpace :p ).

But all those pale in comparison to the swift and deadly justice that FTL delivers. So cruel, yet strangely unprejudiced is it's demolishing of your beloved spaceship, into which you've poured buckets of effort scouring the systems for handy upgrades, slimy and cragged crew members, and of course all important fuel and munitions, that you're left with the undeniable sensation that you've just been pummeled by a freight train.

Infuriating and rage inducing, FTL none the less offers sanctity in the knowledge that once you finally beat the badass boss for the first time, you did it all by yourself. And everyone loves an underdog story.
