It's not just that the added content is bad. The change to the code base ruined the game. There are so many bugs that half the champions and items are unusable, and long runs are impossible. The expansion ruined the base game even for people who didn't buy it,

The higher resolution zooms the game too far out to play and there's no adjustable resolution option. Age of Empires II original had adjustable resolution! I'm just thankful steam has a refund policy now.
