This game can be fun, but fails to be a great CCG because it seems the devs have no clue on how to balance their game. Release after release, patch after patch, event after event, it's always sad to see that they don't put enough effort into analysing and solving the main problems this game have.

The energy system, which allows to play cards each turn, is imho a better mechanic than mana in Magic for instance, and could set the ground for a balanced game. Unfortunately, the random factor in this game is kinda on the unhinged side, feeling "all or nothing" at times and introduces some random crazy OP stuff or game-breaking combos that can make you wonder if you're actually playing a tactical game or online Yathzee with some arts from the pre-existing artworks of Warhammer 30-40k lore.

Facing some legions revolving around problematic mechanics or straight up bad design can also make you feel that a monkey can win a game with some decks, and other times you will be faced with a rock-paper-scissors situation because some mechanics just obliterate entire strategies without any consideration for balance or measure.

On the bright side, playing enough and being good / lucky enough in events allows to build a nice collection of cards for free, and buy legendaries you're missing in the ingame shop.

So, in conclusion, HHL is a casual CCG that can be fun, but lacks balance and a team that understands balance, putting too much emphasis on randomly generated game breakers or wet crackers and not enough on strategy and tactics. I would advise playing it for free if you really want to play it, because you would really waste your money buying overpriced decks or packs. The latest release (Knights) was the perfect example of a cash grab that can be taught in an evil CCG marketing school.
