ACTUALLY. If you haven't played: Mount & Blade grab one of those games (they're all basically the same thing, warband is the best imho, but fire and sword has gunpowder weapons), Metro 2033 was great, Trine 1 & 2 are both good platformers

The only RTS I still play (currently) is Starcraft 2, which might appeal to you because you like getting into the nitty gritty... but SC2 might be too limited for your taste. Haven't really played much of anything lately, and left all my newest games unfinished (mass effect 3, max payne 3, etc...).

well, most recent game I've played is Endless Space, which is a 4X with simultaneous turns. It's fairly decent, but some things are still counter-intuitive imho.
