Where to begin...

This game comes across as your typical Japanese visual novel/dating sim taking place in a generic high school. You play the part of... well... you who gets roped into joining the literature club by your longtime friend, Sayori. Things start off innocent enough, going to meetings, writing poetry, but the poems start to get a little dark. Depending on your choices, you begin to learn more about the other club members and are asked to assist one of them with preparations for the upcoming festival. Again, based on your choices, things... happen... I'm not sure how to describe this without giving away too much.
Then suddenly, the game restarts, but something is different. Someone I should know is missing but I cannot remember who they are. Eh! Who cares. Probably wasn't anyone important anyway. A longtime friend of mine asks me to join a new club she has started. Might as well. I have nothing better to do. Seems they need a fourth member in order to be recognized as a legitimate club. (But I thought they already had four members... No matter, must be some other club.) Things begin to get very strange from this point on. Some of the other members are scaring me. Monika has been giving me warnings about them and their strange secrets. She will help me. Monika Has my best interests in mind. Monika...

Monik...

Moni...

Mo...

Woah! What just happened?
This game is definitely not for those easily disturbed. It plays with your mind and, at one point, masterfully gives you the notion to delete one of the game's files on your hard drive. This actually causes the game to progress. I was truthfully not expecting much from a free game but I was quite impressed.

Remember, Monika knows all.
