This game lacks overall balance and fairness near its end... It kinda just goes off the rails. The beginning has nice cues and hints for how to progress that makes the middle feel really good, but the endgame relies on mechanics such as non-cued invisible bridges, poorly choreographed attacks, enemy spamming, and not resetting consumables on failed boss attempts. Achievements suggest 70%+ of players agree that the middle of the game is the correct time to put it down.

There's a lot of minor cuts that make endgame play less fun. Your 40+ pages of "ingame manual" cross references itself plenty of times, yet there is no way to "seek to a specific page". Instead, you need to hold left/right to flip through the pages and wait. Not an issue when you only have <10 pages, but annoying when you have all 56.

Lacks the cryptography cue quality of FEZ and the combat tightness/fairness of Hollow Knight. Check those out if you haven't yet instead.

Really enjoyable and well done degrade-able weapon mechanic for a rougish dungeon crawler. I'd probably replay it more if the combat felt a bit more precise (eg something worth mastering).

Concepts and mechanics are great, but balance of skill vs chance really aren't good. Most runs aren't winnable because the first 2 items you rolled were junk. Fortunately, those runs end rather quickly. Pretty good game if you don't mind quickly re-rolling starts. This game leans heavily into risk assessment based strategy, where most risk is at the whim of rng. If that doesn't sound fun, don't play it.

Use scanner rooms, not guides.

A good well rounded game that falls into the ever growing twin stick rogue like/lite. I tend to play a lot of these, and they tend to lean either towards strategic choices or twitch enemy attack reactions.
This one is more strategic than others by having quite a few options to modify the randomness (specifically with transmutation). Base game difficulty is much easier than others. If you start using hexes and running othermine (a run style similar to vanilla with a bit more randomness integrated in), the difficulty gets a lot closer to the sweet spot for me.

An RPG about MMORPGs. Since it's not an MMORPG game itself, you get much less monotous leveling and a much richer story. If questing is your thing in MMORPGs, this game will make you feel at home.

Similar to FTL,
But...
No pause, substantially less offensive options, a heavier reliance on scanvenging to survive, a focus on usable actions that decay on frequency of use, and an immersed horror environment.
Yeah, similar... but all these different mechanics makes it substantially different. Definitely a game to support to get more great titles like this.

Deceptively easy?

Actually, took awhile for the puzzles to actually get difficult.
Standard sets are labeled A-Z. They didn't start getting moderately difficult for me until about Q and challenging around W.

When they got difficult, that is when I truely started to enjoy this game. Only suggesting for those that enjoy solving puzzles.

Minesweeper + Sudoku.

Relaxing puzzle solving to give the brain some excercise.
