This game is great but I would not recommend playing it. After months of updates that only make guns worse and add nothing of value I would classify Helldivers 2 as abandon-ware. Its clear the devs are either scared of their success or simply incapable of handling it. PLEASE STOP CHANGING NUMBERS AROUND AND TAKING YOUR FIFTH VACATIONS AND JUST ADD THE SEAF GRUNTS YOU PROMISED MONTHS AGO!!!!

I'm going to try and keep this short and to the point. This game's "economy" is the single worst example of a progression system in any video game on the market today. I am not a F2P player, I spent (or rather tried to spend) my nearly 200 hours in this game flying the Harrier GR.1 and AV-8A both of which are premium vehicles that cost as much as a full price game. After spending my real money to fly what I was interested in flying my reward was finding out the repair cost of these vehicles meant that if I didn't perform extremely well in matches I was going to lose in game currency (silver lions). After only a few days my stockpile of SL was down from the millions to the tens of thousands. I was being forced into buying a premium account or grinding low rank tanks (something I was not interested in) in order to continue repairing the premium vehicles I had purchased. This is frankly unacceptable, Gaijin said in their recent statement that multiple revenue streams and ways for players to support the game is necessary for the game to continue; and yet the repair costs actively strangle people at all levels of investment in an effort to squeeze out that little bit more from people already supporting them.

Here is the point: REMOVE REPAIR COST!!!!!

Slow progression is one thing but seeing progress lost (SL in this case) just for playing poorly or for playing a vehicle with a low modifier will kill any motivation a player has. This is simple game design, people would rather receive things slowly than have things taken away even if the end result is the same amount of time for the same progression.

One final note, balancing the vehicles frequency in games via their SL modifiers is ridiculous. Players should never be discouraged from playing what they want. You have battle rating to balance effectiveness you do not need to use the economy to pressure people into using different vehicles. BAD SNAIL! BAD!

Look I really don't want to be writing this review under not recommend but it has to be done. I have seen a lot of misfired launches of games, but a major regression in performance as compared to a beta 2 days prior? The only new content is 2 maps and an extremely predatory cash-shop? Ray-tracing can only be disabled by opening the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ config file thus helping nvidia push their new ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cards? This ♥♥♥♥ makes me upset in ways I can't describe.

What really bites is that there is a really good game buried under piles of issues. It looks fantastic and they managed to nail the setting which as a longtime fan of the tabletop is really impressive to me. The core gameplay is solid, vermintide+ basically, but it has soooo many little issues that grind on you after only a few hours. Most of the weapons are just slight variants of others and frankly most are unusable when compared to the standout options like the bolter or thunderhammer. The weapon shop updates based on your equipment level so if you have been using a weapon you really like for several levels, because why would you ever change a bolter for a lasgun, then you've effectively gimped your progression without realizing it. And the progression is a slog, after 25 hours I managed to get a single character to level 24 and can just barely clear hazard level 4 content. Not that progressing does anything for you considering there are only 6 maps in the game and a handful of modifiers like bigger hordes or more specials. The only really interesting modifier that shakes up the game is blackout but guess what? It was only up for an hour during the beta and it hasn't been seen since.

This isn't even getting into the super nitpicks like how zealot charge is a worthless alt because by the time you swap to melee and charge your sword/hammer then hit f and target the special you want it will have either 1. been killed by an ally who just shot it in the head like you should have 2. got surrounded by mobs who will stop your charge dead or 3. targeted you with a disable or shot you with a gun that stunlocks you. Or how veteran can take 4 grenades that regen with a perk but ogryn gets 2 boxes that only get to be grenades with an end level perk in a slot occupied by a must pick.

I just cannot recommend this game in its current state to anyone but diehard warhammer fans and if you are then please I beg you do not buy anything from the cash-shop until they balance the game and add more content, there is just enough to be worth 40 dollars and not a cent more. DO NOT ENCOURAGE THESE PRACTICES
