Let me tell you a little story.
Once upon a war, there was a sniper named 'Wash'.
He was Irish, had a military cut, and frankly, seemed like a fun dude.
The only problem was he was terrible at being a sniper.
He missed every shot, failed to react to any attacking force, and even managed to miss a headshot only to have the assault class behind him get the shot. With a pistol.
His commander, while a nice guy, also had a planet to save, and frankly, was getting sick of having a useless sniper.
It was at this time that the commander's engineer informed him of a new program; MEC troopers.
By amputating a soldier's limbs, relacing a few inner organs, and then performing various other operations, they could turn them into a super-cyborg that can punch trains and eat trucks.
Naturally, the commander begins to go through potential candidates, and after selecting a few rookies who almost died due to grenade shenanigans, he clicks Wash.
For a moment, he thinks of sending Wash off to the surgery room. He thinks of removing Wash's limbs and granting him a metal shell.
But then he decides to give the man one last chance, one last shot to prove himself.
So the commander sends Wash out with a squad, expecting to confirm his belief.
But lo, Wash does the miraculous.
He makes the shot.
And the next.
And the next.
And every shot for the next 100, yes 100, missions.
Wash quickly becomes an elite sniper, and soon takes the nickname "Vampire", for all the blood he spills.
Soon, Wash becomes the backbone of his commander's forces, providing long-range support and making impossible shot after impossible shot, even managing a literal 1% shot across the map through two windows.
Perhaps the man Wash found a purpose, a mission that guides him and taught him fantastic skill.
Maybe, after weeks of meditation, Wash found inner peace?

Or maybe it's the commander reminding Wash that he only gets to miss one more time before he ends up like the German rookie who pilots the giant robot next to him, who no longer has legs, arms, or any junk to speak of.

We need more guys like Wash.
