Cave Crawler is a shining example that an 'Overwhelmingly Positive' review for a game only indicates a lack of negativity rather than an abundance of positives. It's a very short platformer: a tutorial, five levels and a bonus stage. That's all. It took me about 20 minutes to complete. I have three big positive takeaways: It teaches each new element in a clever way that doesn't punish you, the controls are flexible and relatively simple to handle (bar a bit of difficulty handling jump length) and the boss fight is a fun incorporation of previous elements. This game is 100% what it advertises and for being entirely free I suppose that's all it needs to be. I'm keeping my eye on Evan Youssef for certain to see how his clear game design talent translates into bigger projects, but what you see is what you get. No twists, no dark elements, no story whatsoever and nothing mind-blowing for the industry. It's a quick half hour of amusement and at most a demonstration for what Evan can do with staples of one of the most saturated gaming markets, especially for indie games. It's refreshingly simple but not remotely special. It's worth your time for certain, but keep in mind 'Overwhelmingly Positive' doesn't mean it'll change your life.

I have a recorded 6-7 hours on this game but for some reason Steam resets it with each uninstall and download.

I firmly believe it's in the hundreds.
