First things first, let me open saying than I have never finished a game faster than I have this one. I started it and couldn't stop. Loving every dark, sanguine, and gore drenched minute of it. Second thing I have loved horror since I was knee high to a grasshopper and all it's many artistic styles.

I deeply love how the set up for this game was done. The upgrades were lovely, and didn't feel like there was any superfluous ones. I adored the bits showing the pair being a loving couple, of the deeper story connecting some of the upgrades with a little story background.

Overally I loved this game so much and would gladly give it five out of five stars.

A short summation so far. Graphics are wonderful. The interactions between characters are almost bioware-esque. The detail and background is great. Plot is intruiging.

The biggest cons so far--
1 The severe limit on character profile pictures. There is one female elf who is an arcane archer of some flavor which is all nice and good but there are few and far between other images of female elves to be utilized for a cleric or primary caster role. The same thing applies to various other options like aasimar.
2 The inability to make your own party from the start to be able to make certain of party balance. Which i understand due to the storylines in being able to interact with the other characters and form relationships with them. The biggest thing that could be done to fix it, in my opinion, is to remove the cost of recruitment from the ranger in oleg's taven that does allow you to make your own additional characters.

I heartily recommend this game for a number of reasons.

1 The protagonist is extremely relatable. Strong willed, flawed and there is a supreme amount of character development that takes place.
2 The various romances are not shallow characters. They each have a very real feeling to them. With flaws and positive attributes.
3 Each path is unique so it doesn't feel just repeating them for a different romance. But it allows you to get a broader understanding of various going ons.

4 This is from a very personal note.
As someone who deals with a lot of very negative events growing up the main character hits a deep chord within me.
Going through the various stories helped me to recognize certain aspects of my own self and how to begin to work through them.

I absolutely love the new mechanics that were introuduced in this game. Some say it has been simplified, i disagree. In many ways it is just that it has changed so much from civ 5 and seems to have taken much more from beyond earth and developed along those lines.

The game play, graphics, and various other bits and pieces, along with faction choices are all very good.
Well done artistically and a lot of choice in regards to playstyle between the factions.

The biggest issue that I have with it is something else. Currently the gaming community, as a whole, is at least half made of women. And the complete lack of ANY female leader of ANY faction shows a complete lack of awareness and understanding of the present environment in regards to the lack of acceptability of sexism and misogyny. Which trying to pretend that women of no races present in the Warhammer Fantasy universe rose to the position of leader is just that, misogynistic and sexist.

Now I will stipulate for certain races it would not make sense, to my knowledge, orks don't reall have genders. But pretending that there would not be any female leaders, at least, among the empire or vampire counts is beyond ignorant and archaic.

Early Access Review
If you are a slightly bent individual (or extremely bent like myself) I would heartily recommend this game. Reason being that you are in the position of antagonist (in a sense) and some people who have difficulty separating the actions they do in a game from their own morality if they are two far apart. For such individuals I would not suggest the game because they will likely get little enjoyment out of it. The exception to that is if they want to get it as a simulator for educational purposes, in which case, I would suggest it. As for the others who don't have to worry as much about the morality of their actions, I absolutely love this game. Albeit at points it can be bang your head on the keyboard frustrating with some of the more peculiar behaving pathogens, I love the challenge the game poses and thought went into it.

This game is incredibly addictive, overall historically accurate (as much as one could hope for a game to be able to be) and has endless amount of replayability.
