Immersive, slow, methodical 3rd or 1st person old western shooter.
The kinda game you let go of shift just to take in the surroundings.
Hard to beat this as far as cowboy games (except the first game).

You just cant REALLY be an outlaw sadly, lawmen can spawn behind you in an open field or a wagon/bush/plywood and have an instant retinal scan down to cellular level even utilizing the game's disguise system (Full mask, New clothes, New hat, Changing out of town/sight).
Sad, but outside that if you keep your boots clean its great.

Cons:
Story feels pretty bland 7 hours in.
DO NOT play without a controller its very clunky on keyboard.
Camera swaps shoulders on movement which can cause some frustration.
Perks feel very underwhelming.
Managing inventory through scrapping when you start feels like gambling unless you read every item you pick up.

Pros:
Pretty game, tribal artstyle with tech was done well here.
Difficulty doesnt matter till NG+.
Frequent save sites (could be a Con for some).

If this is a rogue-like... then so is league of legends.
At the end of both all you lose is your abilities, your time and occasionally your dignity.
Incredibly fun beating it for the first time, but ultimately not enough variation in enemies/locations to stay appealing over the course of time you're expected to play to reveal all there is in the world/character relations. (think binding of isaac but significantly less variation)
The writing, characters and art are really REALLY well done.
The combat before i played appeared to be skillful, tho it quickly devolved into "mash ADAD and space while clicking.".

MAIN critique of the game: After first completion it starts functioning like a mobile game's progression grind.
Verrry little progress, very little character development and rising expenses for grind-able items that are used to improve character strength. What this essentially does is retain the same level of difficulty overall do to various strength progressions but just with more lights, particles or mobs. (Of course theres the argument you COULD raise it to a rogue-like level of difficulty but that would imply you already had a good understanding of the difficulty system you are presented with, which you dont have at that point in time.

6/10. Bittersweet. DO NOT buy if you get bored of hack and slash, cause you're gonna do it...a LOT.

Was a decent game before 2023 when they made the intro cinematics UNSKIPABLE.
Anytime you feel like playing the game you have to queue for 8 minutes to reach the main menu essentially.
You can correct it through mods or various file changes but for a game this old its not worth the effort just to see if you like it.
Don't waste your money or time, there's other options.

(EDIT: They also added DRM causing issues for some, garbage move for a game this old)

The end all be all of crafting/city builder games. The learning spike is insane but its fun to experiment in and even losing is fun. Try the free Dwarf Fortress with a texture mod if you're on the fence.

I have played to mid game 3 times and if you don't backup your saves when you take a break kiss your saves goodbye, their cloud save service is broken and external to Steam.

Otherwise is FF7, one of the greatest games made.

Early Access Review
Combat is the worst part, fun otherwise.

It's not fun unless you like grindy rng and all the game mechanics happen in the first few fights so it gets very repetitive.

Anti-cheat kicks players who are from steam. Even after installing punkbuster from the site directly and adding BF4 to the list AND allowing BF4/Punkbuster through firewall as well as running as admin the problem persists. Not recommended until its playable.
