Disco Elysium is not what I expected. Indeed, I didn't expect the industry to come up with this much artistry in any three months, let alone in a single release, but there it is. I'm looking at it. Immediately visually striking, fiercely intelligent, and near perfect from a technical standpoint, with an excellent and fitting soundtrack Disco Elysium is without a doubt in my mind the best 2019 had to offer.

I could sing it's praise all day, noting how the characters are genuine and well-written, the skill system is like nothing I've seen before, the dialogue is fantastic and a joy to read, and manage to be weird without being cringeworthy. Keeping that in mind, however, it's a vast disservice to the game to speak of it more than strictly necessary. I'll leave you, dear reader, with naught but a hearty recommendation, with small word of caution: you'll need your reading glasses.

Had I employed a scoring system, Disco Elysium is only deserving of a perfect ten.

This is, and always will be, one of the best and most revolutionary games of all time. It is one of many places where I need to call ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t on metascore, because it deserves more than 90. I would not go as far as to say it deserves a full ace, but about 96-97? Sure.

Back when it came out, it was the biggest deal. Sure, Half-life laid the foundation for FPS games, but this game is no mere FPS. It is an RPG, and an excellent one at that. Comparing it to other old-school RPGs, it would always come out on top for me.

The best feature of this game is, it does not stop you from finding your own solutions to problems. Say there is a laser tripwire that sets of an alarm. You can solve this problem in so many different ways. You can run through and shoot your way through. You can hack the control panel. You can find one of usually at least two ways around it. Or, alternatively, you can stack up some boxes and jump over it. The game will not stop you.

Also, everything you do actually matters. It matters if you go lethal or peaceful, it matters if you talk to people or not, it matters if you explore and it affects the game, and the story. It is up to this day, one of the most sublime non-linear RPGs on the market.

The story is very good, provided you are into conspiracy theories. The hero, JC Denton will struggle with or against UNATCO, the UN, US government, NSF and even the Illuminati. To avoid spoilers, I will just say that the conception is just fantastic, but you need to experience it yourself.

The graphics don't hold up today, unfortunately, but a true connesieur will be able to look past that, as lack of graphical fidelity is the case with many games of the past age. The soundtrack makes up for it, though. This is one of many cases where music from a game is a real piece of art.

You would do yourself a great service if you bought this game and played it to completion. It bears the name of a classic with pride, and does not disappoint. After a little bit of tinkering it will run at 1080p, and the controls are fully customizable, so you should make do with those somewhat clunky mechanics.

It is really that good. And dirt cheap too. Take my word, and pick it up.

Deus Ex gets my 0451/10

This might be the best fighting game for PCs ever created. Mortal Kombat is not only a masterpiece, it is also a legacy, and this game does not disappoint even the most die-hard fans of the series.

I have played many games like this, starting from the Super Nintendo era, and none of them stood up to the level of Mortal Kombat III Ultimate... until this one. I can honestly say that I have enjoyed Komplete Edition the most.

It has good graphics, fun story, lots and lots of unlockable stuff, several modes, awesome combos, and Johny Cage. And like all Mortal Kombat games, we will see hectolitres of blood, tons of broken bones, severed limbs, heads, and spines here.

The port is pretty well done, and the fighting system is really tight and responsive. And it does not sell bonus characters and skins as DLC. (I am looking at you, Street Fighter X Tekken) Every fighter avalible feels unique, and there are no bad picks.

There are many hours of fun to be had in this game, with challenge tower, and all the Test your Might, Sight and other modes. It also has multiplayer, which unfortunately is not played by people very frequently.

There are some things it misses, though, like a single fight mode, in which you could choose your hero and your opponent, and I really hoped to see Li Mei in this game, but there are no big mistakes made.

But even the small ones are made up for, with brutal Fatalities. If there was one phrase to sum up a whole decade of gaming, it would be Duke's 'Come get some', but right after that it would be 'Fatality'. This installation of Mortal Kombat offers the player many different ways to kill their enemies, from decapitation to electrocution. Every fighter has two Fatalities of their own, and they are all really messy. Add to that stage fatalities, and you get the best gut-fest on this side of Milky Way.

Bottom line is, this game is a true Mortal Kombat, and is definitely worth buying, even at full price. Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition gets my nine out of ten.

It's good. It's really good. Injustice is without doubt one of the best fighting games I have ever played, next to Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibour. What Injustice does well... is mostly everything. It has very good graphics, tight controls, many playable characters from whom every single is different, several arenas, most of which have two stages each, and I could not even tell if it was a console port. Most heroes have several different outfits, which is good in most cases, but looking at Teen Titans costumes for Raven and Cyborg I didn't find them similiar in any degree to their cartoon counterparts. And I kind of missed a Starfire character. On the other hand there is a version of Batman that wears a Russian ushanka, and there is Superman skin with a hammer'n'sickle emblem on his chest, and that is just plain awesome. Every character also has their own exclusive super move, or whatever it is called, which is a counterpart of the X-ray moves from Mortal Kombat. So in addition to pummeling the crap out of his foes, Batman can run someone over with the Batmobile, and Joker can blast someone with a bazooka, which I have no idea where he keeps. There are several game modes for singleplayer, which will keep you playing for a long time. There is story mode, classic battle and lots of its variations, and S.T.A.R. labs, which consists of lots and lots of minigames and small quests. Overall, this game has some minor flaws, like the completly redundant clash mechanic, or rare issues with attacks ghost range, but it is still solid and fun fighting game. But there is one thing that keeps it from ranking higher, at least in PC version, and it is the multiplayer mode. It sucks. It sucks so bad...I didn't even have a chance to play it. Seriously. You can wait for an hour and not find a single (!) match. And it is not even the game's fault. It is just that nobody plays it, which makes me sad. So, for the love of all gods, buy this game and play it, because for now, from my experience, about 20 people own it.

Injustice: Gods Among Us gets my eight points out of ten.

First of all, I want to point out that this is not a bad game. Not quite. There are many things done very well, and it has lots and lots of decent ideas. But then again, it was Ubisoft who made that game, and as we well know they have to screw something up sooner or later. And they did. And so, the wasted potential of Assassins Creed III pours right out of the screen.

Let's start with good things, though. It has a great setting. I am honestly surprised that there are very few companies who decided to use western or semi-western times to set their game in. Although I don't know if this one qualifies as one set in the Wild West, it does have native americans, so for me, it counts.

I wish it was not, but I have to admit that this is as close as we are gonna get to a good game in those climates on PCs... with exeption of Activision's GUN of course.

Moving on. This game has hunting. And it is awesome. For a while, at least. It is really well done, and can be used as an easy way to make some money. Includes everything, baits, trapping, and air assassination performed on deer.

The environments are as good as you would expect from an AC game. Pretty when you look at them, and while traversing the landscape you will find lots of ways to use it to your advantage. You can hide in bushes, too, which is cool.

Connor's weaponry has some variety to it, too. You get a tomahawk, a rope dart, whatever that is, poison darts, a flintlock pistol, or even two, and you can even use a musket, and you get all your standard AC stuff.

One thing that bugs me, is that Connor does not have to aim down the sights. He just fires, and hits. Every time. But he is an Assassin, so I will let that slide.

But all the good things about this game get pounded into dirt by it's controls. Remember how in AC2 you had four buttons to work with? Legs, head, hand and high profile? Well, here you got one. For all those functions. It makes it impossible to choose what you want to do in some spots, when you have two options. It is borderline random.

Fighting bad guys feels how it should though. You got your counter attack, combos, all that stuff, and stats of your weapon sometimes even matter. It is a somewhat decent aspect of this game.

Let's talk about the protagonist now. Connor. He is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥. I don't like him. I honestly wish that I could play through entire game as the templars. Oh, did I mention? You don't even meet Connor until you are one-third into the game! Okay, enough with the spoilers.

It does have open world, too... but it sucks. Compared to AC2 or other similiar titles, like Prototype, or Red Dead Redemption (not released on PCs, **** you, Rockstar), it feels empty. It has some intresting sidequests, like Captain's Kidd Treasures, but most of them are boring. Like assassination contracts. You don't get a single target to whom you need to get to and kill. You get five nameless dudes, who sometimes get a map marker, and sometimes they don't. It really isn't what I expected, and I was disappointed.

What I kept coming back for, were the naval missions. Sailing near the coast of US of A was a really nice experience, and ship battles were very well done too... which is why they made Assassins Creed IV. And if you want ships, you shoud buy four, not three. But it was done in three, and I respect that.

Also, you can climb trees, now. Thank you, Rebecca. I have waited long enough.

The multiplayer mode is there, but it couldn't hold your attention for too long. It is somewhat better than the previous one, but not that much of an improvement.

As you play through the game you will get that strange feeling. You will know that all of that could, and should, have been done better. If they gave it more time, it could be a really good game. But sadly, they didn't.

The game was much shorter than I anticipated. I beat the main story in one night. Almost. Again, I will compare it to it's predecessor, AC2. Remember the net of all the big fishes in there? It was cool. You had something to pursue. In three, you have five dudes. One of them is just a mercenary. That is what I call laziness, ladies and gentlemen.

Overall, this game is not terrible. It is not even bad. Closer to unfinished, but decent, still. Nearly impossibly hard to 100% it, and a bit frustrating, but decent. And yet, it is not as good as previous one. And I am not talking about Revelations or Brotherhood. Those do not count. If you want the best in series, better get Assassins Creed 2. If you own an XBOX360 or PS3, buy Red Dead Redemption. I can't honestly recommend this game at full price, but if you find it for 10 euro, you might want to pick it up. It is not a bad experience.

Assassin's Creed III gets my six out of ten.

I have waited a long, long time for a game such as this. When I was a kid, I was in love with the earlier Harvest Moon games, namely Friends of Mineral Town. But none of them even compare to the masterpiece of electronic entertainment that is Strardew Valley. Don't get me wrong, Harvest Moon series is still good, but this took that premise and refined it into one of the best games of the decade, and certainly the best indie game this year.

At first glance, you might think that this is just some garbage farmville type of thing. I assure you, it is not. Farmville is trash, and Stardew Valley is a beautiful, lovingly crafted experience. The main premise of the game is farming. But not farming for experience or items. Literal farming. For vegetables, fruit and wheat. This might sound boring, but this is just the beginning. You plant the seeds, water them, and then go to town, or to the mine, or to the wizard's tower, or to the sewers, or to the desert, or to the train station, and so on.

You have to manage your time each day to be as productive as possible, so that you turn profit and expand your farm with earned money. That's mostly it, but for many of us it is enough. The game might look deceptively simple, but there is nothing wrong with simplicity, and there is a lot more to this than meets the eye. It begins with farming, and then you end up mining for ore to improve your tools, and bringing gifts to that one cute girl in town, and going fishing, and delving into the depths to defeat monsters.

This is one of the games that you have to play for yourself to truly apreciate it. I wholeheartedly recommend Stardew Valley. It gets a ten points out of ten possible, and guess what? It's getting even better with every update. Truly a steal for this price.

Firefly is dead. Stronghold is dead.

Just get the first one, don't bother with this.
