Wonderful rendition of a classic

A fun game to kill some time, with decent gameplay and atmosphere. The dialogue and story are delightfully corny, as long as you don't try to take them seriously.
The only issue I've had with the game is the pacing. A lot of the time, you'll find yourself waiting around for the next enemy wave to arrive or units to spawn. It's never long, just always one or two moments too long to feel well paced. Nonetheless, if you've watched the trailers and liked what you saw, its delivering on what it promises!

The atmosphere, looks and sounds of this game are fantastic and provide a good experience in both skirmishes and the campaign. It is a great expansion of the BSG universe in its own right.
For these reasons, I do recommend this game to all fans of Battlestar Galactica.

However, there are of course improvements that could be made:
- A mechanic to disengage from battles. That would enable more options for the management of the campaign
- more shiptypes with specific roles that open up a more tactical approach to space battles
- more mechanics for fighter and raptor squadrons, such as adjustable ordnance and such
- more diverse map designs to add in obstacles or limitations during battles

Ein grandioses Spiel für jeden Fan von gigantischen feuerspuckenden Luftschiffen und anderen verrükten Kreationen der nicht ganz so historischen Kriegsführung. Es ist ein wunderbarer, noch unverbrauchter Stil, der hier in zufälligen, immer wieder motivierenden Kampangnen dargestellt wird. Die Grafik ist einfach, aber stimmig und einfach solide umgesetzt, genau wie das Gameplay. Das Erstellen der Kriegsmaschinen allein ist schon beschäftigung genug, aber sie dann auch noch auf dem Schlachtfeld eingesetzt zu sehen, das ist wirklich fantastisch. Zumal die Vielfalt möglicher Kreationen beachtlich ist. Ob in der Luft, am Boden oder als stationäre Verteidigung, in jeder Position können verschiedenste Waffen- und Verteidiungssysteme eingesetzt werden. Jedes Spiel lässt sich mit leicht unterschiedlichen Strategien der kohlebetriebenen Kriegsführung gewinnen - der Wiederspielwert ist dadurch unglaublich groß.

Dieses Spiel hat nicht nur großes Potential einmal ein großartiger fertiger Titel zu werden, es ist jetzt schon ein solides Spiel, und seinen Preis, gerade im Vergleich zu anderen Early Access Titeln dieser Preiskategorie, in jedem Fall wert!
Auch wenn es noch nicht fertig ist, einen ganzen Haufen spaßiger Spielstunden hat man garantiert!

An interesting new experience, set in a beautifully designed world, that is well thought through and presents a rather unusal perspective on things. The graphics, the interface and some gameplay elements in combat could be improvet, but a great artstyle, interesting dialogue and an intriguing story make up for all little flaws. Overall, it is a short, but intense experience, a little glimpse of a different, new world.
Dialogue options and different solutions to important story events ensure a very high replay value and an incredible rich ingame-database has tons of additional information about the setting and game universe to read through.
Definetly a recommendation for anybody interested in futuristic settings. People who are not as enthuisastic about just experiencing a really interesting world through texts and dialogue, might find the gameplay elements a bit rough and the game overall too short to completly justify the full price. In that case, it is definetly worth getting during a sale!

First of all: it's beta, so of course, not everything works perfectly. Also, this game has nothing "new" in case of gameplay mechanics, but it uses stuff that were good in the past and still work perfectly fine, like a ressource system that is similar to company of heroes or the old dawn of war 1. In addition to that, the whole thing works fine, is incredibly fun to play around with and of course, this beta is free. Absolultly amazing!
