Criminally underrated game

Basic mechanics are incredibly intuitive while still not being so overt that you get the answers without thinking. The game puts its full focus on rule discovery but the format of word guessing still makes the execution of each puzzle really fun

Movement is clearly inspired by games like Antichamber, a hallway turning left four times won't necessarily bring you back to where you started, which can be annoying if you're trying to find your way to a specific area (I'd almost suggest taking notes if you find somewhere you want to return to, note-taking in general is probably a good idea). Some panels can also be a bit annoying when you've understood the rules at play but you don't know the specific answer to the panel.

Negatives aside, this is one of the best puzzle games I have played.

Did I mention this game has great mod support and an incredibly dedicated community of mapmakers?

Yaengard brings a lot of ideas to the table of indie rpgs as a hybrid between turn based strategy and disco elysium-esque party builder. The vast amount of weapons with unique skill combinations turns the combat into a game of "which party composition leads to the craziest combo" and the personality system takes this even further.

It might not be the longest indie rpg out there but the class system lends itself very well to repeat playthroughs. The end of act 1 felt like a spike in difficulty to a level not really seen again until the end of the game, which is a bit unfortunate as I would have liked to see some added challenge to the second half of the game.

Yaengard shows a ton of promise, I especially adore the personality system and the flavor it gives your party. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys party building, tactical combat and crazy combos

A very bright and cheerful game about a scary clown who just wants to be friends with everybody. the sometimes more melancholic parts of the game only act to strengthen this warm atmosphere. The pixel art is glorious with it's multitude of colours and the unique speech of the NPC make the puzzles very interesting.

I'd highly recommend the game to anyone who enjoys point & click adventure games, or puzzles.

I give it an 8/10

I got decapitated by an evil underground society for not being intimate enough with the birds. Then I discovered that my character had been carrying a halberd this whole time.

10/10 would die again

great game. the ending is probably the most bisarre ending I've seen. It's like if your long lost twin would crawl out of your ass and tell you that you were a hundred years old with you only realizing how incredibly logical that is the next day.
