I went into this expecting the XCOM-style combat but with super heroes, and was pleasantly surprised by all of the non-combat stuff that you can do. There's a nice story, plenty of exploration, great conversations with a bunch of characters (some of which feature voice actors returning from other mediums), and lots of fun banter between the different characters. Sometimes I actually think of this as the main part of the game, with the satisfying turn based strategic combat as icing on the cake.

The owl is cute.

Incredibly different playstyle than the previous entry in the serious, and in my mind a lot more fun. Combat is much more fluid in 3D than it was in 2D. Other than that, there's a lot of elements in common (items, artifacts, cool music) that you can tell it's part of the same series, but everything still feels fresh. This is how sequels should be made.

(Update 2: I can't believe they're coming back with another expansion after already moving on to a different game!)

It's incredibly difficult (or maybe I'm just very bad at it), but I just can't stop playing it.

Over 5 days of playtime, and I still keep coming back to this game. I didn't expect to like this game at all (my first experience with a roguelike), but this ended up becoming one of my favorite games of all time (and easily the most replayable).
