I enjoy this game wholeheartedly. For a game that's not Bookworm Adventures or Bookworm Adventures Vol. 2, it does a good job of scratching the itch of defeating monsters by spelling out words... If EA loosens the reins on Popcap enough that we are allowed to purchase Bookworm Adventures and Bookworm Adventures Vol. 2, then I will be heading back to Bookworm Adventures and Bookworm Adventures Vol. 2. But this is good enough for now.

This was a great game to play with my wife sitting across the room on her laptop. Teamwork, puzzles, creepiness, and a little bit more of the Rusty Lake Mythos? I'm there.

Look, I originally played this game on an Amazon Fire Stick, and, yeah, it's a good little mindless romp of PacMen. If you need to dissociate for about 22 hours total while earning some achievements, brother, you could do worse.

I have spent very little time playing this game on Steam. However, I spent basically all of 2020 playing this on Kongregate. It is an idler that will drain your life away. Great for a pandemic. Or if you have to self-isolate for like 10 days for some reason.

A very enjoyable game for those who like figuring out platform mechanics and the rules of engagement as you go along! A tough but fair experience, which makes it quite satisfying to beat (my eyes were watering from lack of blinking though.)

And any game that gives special thanks to "AND YOU" in an 8-bit type credits font can't be all bad.

An enjoyable, if derivative, boxing game in the Super Punch-Out vein, or even Wade Hixton's Counter Punch to get more obscure. The character designs and dialogue are clever, though the game as a whole lacks the polish to make a true classic. It is a lot of fun, though.

A fun and unique take on the survival horror genre, with a distinctive visual style and loads of atmospheric writing. Sadly, it's not quite able to stick the landing on the ending it sets up for, but overall, I enjoyed the ride.

You walk around a blurry blue beach, picking up blurry blue objects, hoping to spot blurry blue butterflies. The piano music that plays in the background is exactly what you'd expect it to sound like, and if you could see it, it would probably be blurry and blue too. The developers seem quite sincere in their aims of tribute, but it feels like they had an (admittedly good) idea for an ending animation and built a game around it to justify it. It's hard to begrudge games made for charity, especially cheap ones, but I just wasn't feeling it.

4PM is like a hangover without the fun of the party beforehand. It's short, disorienting experience that is, at times, physically painful to play. This appears to be entirely what the developer set out to do, but it's just not for me.

Of historical interest but not much else

While I can appreciate anything that got a bunch of Senators riled up in the 90s, time, tide, and technology has left the POSTAL series behind. Some aspects, like the encounter with a marching band and the Gary Coleman boss battle, are timeless. However, the fact remains that the Grand Theft Auto series has swept in and done most of what POSTAL 2 does but better: the rampaging, the satire, the nose-thumbing at authority. Maybe a real modern sequel might very well make the grade, the most value playing this game is to see what all the fuss was about.
