A few steps back in the visual and music department, but better than the first game overall.

There's a good game in here somewhere. The gameplay is certainly great, but unskippable cutscenes and mandatory expeditions throw pacing and the potential for a fluid multiplayer experience out the window. Part of what makes these cutscenes so damning is that the story is mediocre at best. From a technical standpoint, the game looks nice but is poorly optimized and has an inconsistent online connection. It's a shame - when the game actually let's me play it, it's great.

One of the best deals in gaming. The price is almost criminal. Team Cherry delivered a deep, engaging game that keeps going and going!

The game has an absolutely massive download size. I wish I was willing to give up that much space to play.

A game that only got worse with updates.

The Good - What I Generally Enjoyed About the Game:
-Punishingly difficult, but very fair. If you die, it's your fault.
-The level design is nothing short of brilliant, with the entire world map being one interconnected puzzle with no loading times (save for the DLC).
-Highly customizable
-A perfect blend of gameplay mechanics and captivating story.
-What few musical tracks that are present are perfect for the tone.
-Lengthy with high replay value.

The Bad - What I Generally Disliked About the Game:
-The PC port is shoddy at best. However, there are community made mods that fix most of these issues.
-An overall lack of any explanation as to how things work.
-Story, though breathtaking, is hidden so much that I had to rely on fan made lore videos to understand it.

The Ugly - My General Opinion on the Graphics and Overall Presentation of the Game:
-Gorgeous visuals despite the game's age.
-The hud, though functional, is ugly.
-Some animations are stiff.
-Enemy design is top notch.

Verdict: Recommended.

EDIT: With the most recent update, a majority of the problems that I listed below have been fixed.


I can recommend Magic the Gathering, but I can't recommend Magic Duels in its current state. The servers, for the most part, can't handle the amount of people playing the game. In fact, certain online features, such as "two-headed giant", don't even work. I've seen a lot of complaints about the dated UI and graphics, but those issues are very minor. The gameplay itself is very fun, but I look forward to when they update the game until it's stable enough to enjoy with my friends on a regular basis.

The best 4x game I've played.

The mac version is COMPLETELY broken. It will not launch from the Uplay launcher. This has been a problem for at least a year now without any fix (or even news that they are working on a fix). It's incredibly frustrating that I had to pay $20 for a game that doesn't even run. The lack of response from Ubisoft is not only unprofessional, but also unacceptable. I demand a full refund!

On the surface, a well done hack n' slash. Then, get a little deeper to find that it's so much more. Play it. Love it.
