For released or/older games I would recommend KKND 2 Krossfire (gotta get it from GOG though) if you like RTS+Comedy, Skydrift for a plane racing game but with guns (MP is dead though), UT2004 for pure never get boring FPS/Team FPS fun (try the AS-Outback map for Aussie humor), Empire Total War is another RTS I recommend especially if you have background roots to one of the nations featured in the game. The entire Painkiller series of games is Doom like fun (oh of course Doom classic with modern day port) & of course you know I would recommend the Mass Effect series of games LOL.

As far as new & upcomming games go, the only one I can recommend especially if you like singleplayer & FPS would be Wolfenstein New Order however let's just hope the Aussie classifications board has not forced the developer to cut content from the game (as they did with Saints Row 4 & LFD 2).
