This isn't Civ. They are different games.

Humankind isn't perfectly polished, but it has a lot of heart and clever game design put into it. The narrative flow feels real, there's more ups and downs than in a game like Civ. The battle system is satisfying, and allows for interesting fights. Things happen to impact your civ; some you have control over, some you don't. But it always feels like you're getting stronger, improving your strengths or adapting to a change in the strategic scene. The diplomatic scene is clean, easy to access, and actively encourages interacting with other players.

Easily worth the $50 pricetag for me, especially when compared with something like the $100 Civ 6 Anthology. Maybe wait if you're on the fence for the developers to polish up the game a bit, but I don't think I'll end up regretting my purchase.

I would recommend this game for the type of people who like to write down notes about what they're playing.

This game is a steal.

Good, not as good as EU3 if you're willing to bog through the poorer graphics and steep learning curve in that game.
