I came into this game as someone with no experience with action stealth platformers but found Mark of the Ninja very intuitive and easy to pick up on. The controls are responsive and designed to eliminate 'hitting a button without knowing where you will end up afterwards' as much as possible, which I appreciate.

I found the game difficult but fair, and rewarding when I got it right. There are usually multiple ways to achieve a goal, allowing for some freedom and a feeling that you really solved the problem with your own scrambled meat brains instead of just hitting the buttons the game told you to hit.

The 2d animation is gorgeous, both in gameplay and cutscenes. Reccommended, even if this isn't your usual genre. It's not my usual genre either, but I'm happy with it.

edit: still a good game in 2019, would totally nominate it for better with friends if that was still a thing i could do
