This game is really what you make of it, whether you are a builder, legacy player, or fall into any of the countless other player categories. The way I play depends greatly on my mood, what new content EA has added or new cc I've found, how much I need to escape reality, etc. The vanilla game is pretty aggravating and the DLC prices are extortionate, which tempted me to give a thumbs down. Yes, I have a ton of packs and whatnot, but bought the vast majority during sales. Still, the sheer variety of ways to play and the ability to mod the game make it a win. The ability to mod the game in countless ways thanks to the creative simmers out there adds all kinds of interesting new ways to play and improves the things EA won't bother dealing with. Plus the ability to create my own world and populate it the way I want to will always be a great way to relax.
