I was suprised to find out Legion TD got released as it's own, separate game. Sure, already happened with Dota a long time ago, but this game is nowhere as big as Dota. Still it's a very popular map in W3 and SC2, so why not I guess.

The concept is simple - build your fighters to defend waves, keep increasing your income, send creatures, overpower the other team eventually. After you get the basics, there's a whole lot of depth and strategic planning to comprehend. Enough to give the game a competetive feel and keep it interesting for a long time.

It's fun. It's the good old concept that just works, reviwed in a polished, smooth edition. Graphics are aesthetic and pleasant to look at, sound is clear and nice (the theme that starts before wave 21 is awesome, I'd love to hear an extended version of it). Overall a very good experience that will keep me playing in the upcoming weeks for sure.

Definitely a worthy addition to any steam library.

Early Access Review
This is as close as it gets in terms of realistically simulating a zombie apocalypse. An outstanding piece of indie survival/sandbox/rpg that I believe you should try for yourself.

Game is hard. It's complex (more than one would expect), there is a lot to comprehend and it doens't forgive mistakes. It might feel overwhelming and frustrating at first; the learning curve is steep and there is so much to keep in mind and watch out for. But it's definitely worth enduring, as Project Zomboid is one a of a kind gaming experience.

The game's atmosphere is absolutely immersive. From the graphics and sound to the feeling of solitude and constant danger, it's well crafted all the way through and let's the player really feel the apocalypse. Cause that's what it is. A freaking zombie apocalypse, not a shooty shooty rambo playground. You have to be on your toes all the time, check your surroundings and pick your fights wisely. And because of that it's engaging and fun to scavenge through the neighborhood. It feels rewarding to loot a nearby house and find yourself some canned food. Even more so to raid a store or a warehouse and grab some potentially useful tools so you can start thinking of setting up a base somewhere. It's about long term survival after all.

Which leads us to the one, ultimate issue - the late game. Why? Because there basically is none. There is no main objective to complete, no real goal at the end. Once you finally survive long enough to have a self sustainable base, there is not much left to do other than push your luck and engage in risky activities.

But before that happens, a lot of fun awaits. The replayability is solid - spawns and loot are randomized and there are four towns you can choose to start in. There are different dificulty settings and there is a briliant sandbox mode, where you can alter almost any aspect of the game to your liking. A lot of mods to try out provided by an active modding community.

This game seriously deserves more attention. Despite being in early access for so long, it is still being updated and I'm really excited to see how the final version turns out. Recommending hard.

Remember when the playerbase went "Man, I wish there was some other means of getting around instead of parkour."?
You don't. Cause nobody said that.
Parkour and freerunning was what made this game special. I get that they wanted to try something new, but zombies and cars dont mix too well. George Romero learned this the hard way with his "Land of the Dead", same case here. Cars just kill the atmosphere.
It's cute how they advertise this expansions saying the map is "larger than all of the base game maps combined". That's such an overstatement. Yeah, it indeed is large - but only for the sake of car not being useless. It's also blank, empty and boring with very little to do other than driving from A to B.

I absolutely love the base game. And, for me, this isn't Dying Light. Gone is the fun of jumping from building to building and looting people's fridges on your way. Gone is the unique, impeccable atmosphere of Harran.
Random virals spawns are not gone though and it looks even more riddiculous in an open field, as they just spawn out of thin air. And, for some reason, they can run as fast as the car in full speed. I mean wtf.
Also there's hardly any population in the countryside, where did these huge zombie hordes even come from?

Disappointed, waiting for Dying Light 2.

It is a good game that's a bit hard to get into.

The hardest part is not getting too frustrated during your first few hours.
Cause it is frustrating.

It feels clunky, especially the combat. How many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pickaxe blows to the head can a zombie take? Apparently, a lot. The pickaxe may actually break before the zombie head does. And then there is more of them. And more. You cannot just clear a group of zombies with a smile on your face like you're used to.
Because it's hardly about killing the undead. This is not a shooter. You're there to outmaneuver the infested, get things done and survive to see another day.
You're not Rambo in a zombieland, you're a guy with just some training trying to not get eaten.

Eventually, you get used to the parkour aspect which feels a bit off at the beginning. You get your bow. You get new perks. You learn what, where and how. And after few hours you begin to love it.

There's a lot to do. Luckily, despite being told that "time is of the essence" at the beginning, actually it is not. You can take as long as you need to practice, scavenge and do the multitude of side quests before progressing the story. It's an open world Skyrim-like experience.

Sincerely recommending.

Ok, this game is good in most areas. Weapons are good, enemies are quite challenging and will kill you if you slack, combat system is dynamic, music is good, graphics are your regular 2020 graphics. All in all a fun experience.

What is not good nor fun? F****ng platforming.
Am I playing a Doom game or Mario? This sh*t is soo annoying. I do not appreciate the ledge searching and grabbing one bit. It was pissing me off in 2016 well enough. Guess what? It is now amplified. Make sure you have fun shredding through a demon wave while you can, cause sure as hell you're gonna have to slow down and floppy bird around after that.
You feel badass after surviving that last encounter? Well now you at the bottom of a fire lake, who's lauhing now?

Satan and level designers do.

Still an upvote cause the game is good, but all the squirell action is a huge bummer for me that feels way off.

It is pretty much pointless to bother with a review at this point, as the reception is quite clear to everyone interested.
Still, it would simply be unfair to not praise this masterpiece in front of the public.

And boy is this truly a masterpiece, let me tell you.

I immediately fell in love the very moment I left my lifepod. I mean, just look at those screenshots - the underwater world you get thrown into is breathtakingly (heh.. get it?) beautiful. It's colorful, it's interactive, it's alive. Gets you sucked in for good in no time.
The game does follow the basic survival/sandbox rules - explore, get materials, craft stuff to be able to explore more. And these basic activities have never felt this engaging and rewarding. From better swimming fins to an actual ship - you can feel and enjoy the progress.

The story is there and while it is pretty interesting to unfold new pieces of the mystery, for the most part it does not rush you. And that's some good decision making by the devs, because you get to explore, build and learn the ropes at your own pace. Each biome is different and beautiful in it's own way, true eye candyness from start to finish, so take your time and marvel at the alien world.

Eventualy though, you want to progress the story. In order to do so, you have to go deeper. And this is where the game shows its true colors. Ever heard of thalassophobia? Congratulations, you have it now. 'Fear of the unknown' gets a new meaning in Subnautica. It's all fun and games in your shallow, colorful starting location, but as you progress, the open spaces get bigger. So do the fishes. The atmosphere does get seriously eerie and nerve wrecking, yet not to the point that it discourages you from pressing on.

Speaking of the atmosphere, the soundtrack deserves its own separate lines of praise. As a fan of ambient, electronic music I couldn't be more happy. Simon Chylinksi has done an outstanding job reflecting the feel of an alien underwater world into sound. Sometimes I would stop and float in place, ignoring the depleting hunger and thirst meters, just to admire the music.

I could honestly go on and on to the point of spoiling, but why would you spend your spare time reading a wall of text.

Just play it, just freaking play it <-------------

Pros:
- gameplay
- gameplay
- graphics
- music and overall sound
- atmosphere
- I wish you could see my base from my last playthrough

Cons:
- replayability is low to non-existent after you discover and learn everything
- I now got legit anxiety when swimming outdoors, not even kidding

This thing is the closest what we have to time travel at the moment. You start the game at 9:00 pm, click next turn, zoom it's 3:00 am.

A Civilization game done right. Just enough depth and variety, pleasant graphics, smooth controls. 10/10, will fwd a lot more life with it.

This game has everything I was looking for in a modern single player FPS.
Yeah it does feel a bit linear; demon engagement -> walk -> jump up some ledges -> demon engagement.
But man are those engagements fun. A rocking tune starts playing and suddenly it's hell unleashed. Fireballs flying everywhere, Hellknights charge at you, 'low ammo' pops up as you notice something even bigger spawning in the back. And it feels freaking great to blast away every single one of them, especially when you throw in some glory kills (yeah, punch the f*ckers). Really gets your adrenaline going.

I appreciate the fact that every weapon stays usefull throughout the entire game, and that's due to some nice gun modes that can be further upgraded. You also get armor mods and runes that can improve a wide variety of features of your character. A just enough rpg aspect.

It's a seriously well done shooter that does give you that badass feeling we all love, yet makes you work for it. Recommending.

This game is a masterpiece.

That's pretty much my review, short version.

The developers had a clear idea of what they want to create and managed 100% to do so - a top-down view game that will slowly stress the crap out of you.

The graphics seem just simple and pixelated, yet are carefully polished and detailed and the animation is smooth. The sound is great - from the rustle of the trees and random creaks under your feet to weapon sounds and enemies noises (that freaking chomper growl..), it's raw, clear and amplifies the game's feel perfectly.

Darkwood plays really well and gets you sucked in for good in no time. Combat system is simple, still you will have to practice every new weapon, as well as study the behaviour of the enemies - some charge, some get smart and sneaky. It feels rewarding to find and craft stuff or add an upgrade to a weapon and does make you want to check every single part of the map. Resources are limited, just enough to make you consider wether to play safe and use those bandages now, or risk taking two more hits to get full value.

The horror aspect - out of this world. No jumpscares or sudden loud noises, no cheap bulls**t. Instead, an overwhelming atmosphere of solitude and constant danger. Even exploring the forest during daytime keeps you in constant suspense.
But the real fun starts when the sun goes down. Seriously, the night in Darkwood is one of the most terrifying and nerve-wracking things I have experienced. Not gonna spoil anything, all sorts of creepy, crazy and potentially dangerous stuff can happen. You will have to hide, you will have to run, you will have to fight. And you will let a sigh of relief once the night is finally over.

There's a bonus for you if you happen to be Polish, cause some items you find will put a slight nostalgic smile on your face.

Challenging and unforgiving, as the loading screen tells you, Darkwood is one hell of a gaming experience. If you enjoy video games, you simply will appreciate this title. Recommending it as hard as I can, life feels more complete than before playing it.

PROS
+ atmospheric graphics
+ sound
+ difficulty level
+ night-time
+ story
+ weird NPCs
+ weapons and enemies
+ it's so unique

CONS
I fail to find any
