Well done Battlegrounds-Like game. I especially like the lower turn timers and the ready button.

Needs some QoL features, but overall a very good start and no P2W to be seen so far.

The game has some issues, especially with clarity and QoL-Features - but that's what an Early Access is for, right? The developer is very active in Discord and you really see that he cares about this game. So if you have some suggestions/complains you will find someone listening.

It took me 9 hours to play through the game in it's current state and I had a lot of fun. The game isn't easy and you have a lot of decissions to make. If you haven't much experience with cardgames in general it will take even longer, I guess 12-15 hours will be the average playtime to finish the current content.

+Very good carddesign, a lot of possibilities to build a deck with nice synergies
+Very great graphics for a cardgame
+A dev who cares about the game and works with the community to improve the game
+Already now a good amount of content for the relativly low prize it costs
+Great potential for the future development since the game has a solid foundation

+/- It's not an easy game. Some enemies seem overwhelming at the beginning, it's on you if you like this kind of difficulty or not.

-Some problems with clarification on effects and stuff
-A bit grindy here and there

So overall it's a solid recommendation from me. Had a lot of fun and looking forward to the next patches. It's worth to support this project!

This game is just a joke. Server problems since the beginning and in the ~2 hours I played I have encountered the following funny features:

- Jumping with a skill into the air and get stuck in a wall...
- 2 special "dungeons" with too less monsters and/or stuck monsters in a wall...
- A bug which prevented the access to the inventory, which forces you to relog (which is a pain, since the servers are in trouble)
- A terrible performance overall with fps drops while using an highend pc...
- Great hitboxes of some encounters which let you just not click on them at all...

All that happened in around 2 hours and in Act 1 - which is the one who was tested with the Early Access version.

So...yeah. Save your money.

Edit: Some of my points will be fixed with Patch 0.4.0. The vendors will change quite positive and there will be a disenchant-system like in Realm Royale (so 2 of my concerns below are fixed). Also my concern with the healing after kill is adressed, it's now healing for everyone in a circle. This doesn't eliminate the problem with the sheep medaillon completly, but it goes into the right direction. This is the reason I chance my review to a positive one, even if some of the points are still valid.

First of all: I'm not a native speaker and such a long review will include some terrible grammar. Sorry for that.

Like you can see at my hours played I haven't done much else in the past 2 months than playing this game - and I really love a lot about it. I'm in the Top 100 EU and have more than 2000 games played, which means I think I know what I'm talking about below.

The normal Battlerite was never my kind of game, I just got bored very fast of it - but I simply love Battle Royale. After being a Twitch partner for 5 years and being around in the gaming industry for my entire worklife I know a lot about games and let me tell you...with deep regret...I think this devs just aren't very good in what they are doing.

I'm not talking about the amazing graphics and the smooth game by it's own, they really have talented artists and programmers. But the Gamedesigners and "Decissionmakers" must have never played a game in their entire life. They simply don't know what makes a game successful and as more as you play this game you will realize how many bad mistakes were made.

Lets start at the very beginning and the first big mistake: it's not a F2P. I don't care about 20 bucks, but SLS isn't a big company with big advertisment. So the playerbase is very small and without a F2P title you will simply not get enough players. Add the mmr matchmaking to it and what you get is a clownfiesta. That's why you have incredible long queue times and - in fact - the worst wait/play-ratio of all multiplayergames in history. If you manage to survive till the end a game takes around 10 minutes, but it's not unusual to wait around 3-4 minutes for a game and after it another 1:30 for the game to start...this is just unacceptable. This get's even worse if you are on a little slump and die lets say 3 times in a row. Then you have waited around 15 minutes to play maybe 1-2 minutes. Never seen such a misconception in my entire life and it just drains your motivation to play the game.

But lets come to other decissions made starting with the RNG nature of the game. Everyone who wanna play a Battle Royale is fine with some kind of RNG. You have to find the right weapons, get a good landing and so on. But...what this game has done is really special and nothing else than the most RNG-based Battle Royale ever made - which is funny, because the normal game is focussed entirely on skill. One of the mainproblems is that you don't start with all of your skills and that every loot you find is randomized. This means 2 players can each loot a few boxes and one comes out with all skills and level 15 while the other was just getting stupid duplicates and is still level 5. And even if you are a god, it will be really hard to fight with 3 of your skills vs someone with all of his skills. When you play a lot you will again and again come in situations where you are just so incredible outleveled, without having done anything wrong, that you are just forced to run away and grab loot from dead bodies to come somehow back in the game. All this could have been solved with private loottables, where every chest you open will improve you somehow or with a system like dusting in Realm Royale, where you get at least something from your duplicates. The whole lootsystem has to be reworked and I have no clue how they could ever think that this garbage system would be liked by anyone.

Lets go to another point - the great copy pasta abilities by this studio. I'm not against stealing some good ideas from others and adapting it to the own game. In fact, this is a good thing...and the loot goblins, inspired by D3, are for example a real good thing. It just feels great to find one. But there are a few other things which are definitly inspired by Fortnite/Realm Royale which just doesn't work in this game and are just there to ♥♥♥♥ the players up.

The first thing is the sheep medaillon. This is an item which will transform you into a sheep for 5-8 seconds after you died. If you survive the 5-8 seconds you will be revived with low hp - so...the same as chickens in Realm Royale. But this just doesn't work in this game. If you kill someone in BRR you get 25 % HP back, but you don't get anything for sheeping someone. You also have no possibility to see if someone has a sheep medaillon or not. This means a tactical decission to go for the kill on someone can either be right or wrong without any chance to know it. Example: We have a fight between 3 players...2 players are on 30 % hp and the third one is one hit away from dying. It can be the right decission here to use your gapcloser to save the kill and get 25 % HP back on yourself in which case you will probably defeat the other 30 % player, even if your gapcloser is on cooldown, as well. This just goes horribly wrong if the dying guy has a sheep medaillon because in this case you have wasted your cooldown, don't get any HP back, can't loot anything from the sheep player and are now in a horrible position. Things like this occure every game and are just tilting you from this planet.

The second things are the shops where you can use your earned gold to buy skills, items and consumeables - also inspired by the forges in RR or the vendor machines in Fortnite - and which are the main option to equip yourself with topgear (not like in Fortnite, where vendor machines are just a little thing). But...you can't really buy what you want / need - they are completly random and I have again no idea why this RNG has to be brought into the game. Sometimes you have a hard early game with a couple of fights...you are winning all of them, saved the maximum gold of 900. Because you've fighted so much in you startzone your gear isn't that excellent, but the earned gold should solve this. Nope. You go to the first shop and there is nothing you need...so you ride to the next one - and yay! One item you need...but still 650 gold left...and so you spend the next 2-3 minutes to find some shops which can help you out - but the hope is just an illusion. As longer the game goes, the less likely it is that the shops have anything for you (they also can be sold out, amazing). So it's not unlikely to sit at 900 gold in the end of the game without being able to spend it and it just feels terrible.

I could tell you a lot of more things which are terrible wrong with this game. For example bushes near every shop to support camping for whatever reason...no "in combat"-system which makes it possible to escape amost every fight if you are about to lose it...fast mounting up, another tool to support this runaway style which you will see in every game...but all things come down to one simple thing:

This company is just lacking gamedesigners who knows how to make a successful game and how to give a good feeling to their playerbase. They try, but they simply can't - it's not their profession. And even if I had a lot of fun improving over my 350 hours and for myself the 20 bucks were definitly worth it...I see all the potential which isn't used because of dumb decissions. And I see the decrease in players on a daily basis, most of them leaving because things stated above.

So...Yeah. Im sure that MOBA Battle Royales will have a bright future - but I'm afraid not this game. That's why I can't recommend it and would suggest that if you wanna try it out wait for another F2P-Week/Weekend or for the end of EA when it will go F2P anyway. But like it is today this game will be dead within a few months.
