This may be a bit of a long review so there will be a TL;DR at the bottom, but here goes:
Addressing the reasons for the review bombing:
1. The lack of a discount on release. In my opinion this is not a real reason to not recommend this game, but if you want to play this game know that you can get it cheaper through game pass or through a sale on Epic that it has at the time of this review, you can also just wait for it to go on sale on steam too.
2. The VR port. The VR port is frankly not great, it feels more like a gimmick and needs a lot of work to be ready. It is, however, free. I am not going to cry over a free update that does not work super great and in no way inhibits the regular play.
3. The confusing store and the lack of clarity for the progression transfers. It took 20 hours for the game to realize I had the other games in my library and that was mildly annoying as the store should have been able to get that info immediately, the store also does not discourage you from buying those expansion packs if you own the games already. All in all I agree that the store page is not that well thought out, but that is not enough to force me against recommending.

Ultimately this is a great game with some great improvements (my favourite being the shortcuts that make it really rewarding to explore the map). VR has been added and was fun to play once (although I really do not recommend buying if the main/only reason is for the VR). It is more Hitman with really creative and fun missions and targets.

TL;DR: Great game, bit pricey on Steam right now and can certainly recommend you try on Xbox Gamepass for PC. I do wish progression was just shared across all platforms.
