Yeah, I'm familiar with the AllSet Wiki books. I use the online reference quite a bit. If you can follow the Chinese news, then you are definitely MUCH better at it than me. Respect!
NounTown is an interesting learning tool. It does just what its name says, it's a noun town, you can learn all kinds of nouns with this game, but when you first learn a language the most important things to learn are verbs and adjectives, nouns may not come around enough to be useful. For a test like the HSK that tests understanding, I dont believe nountown is a good tool for study, but it's fun nonetheless. If you want to learn grammar AllSet Learning ChineseGrammarWiki is actually pretty decent, but nothing beats a native teacher. Do you happen to know if the HSK requires interpretation? For example, what is the author's point of view? What does the author mean with the phrase?
